Chapter 24 part 2 ~ The Hospital

Y/n woke up to the sun shining through curtainless windows. No curtains. What happened to her curtains? This wasn't her room! She tried to sit up but immediately yelled in pain as she did so. She looked around the room to see Tracy just waking up on the armchair next to her with a blanket.

"Tracy?" Y/n asked, causing Tracy to open her eyes, "Why can't I move?" She asked, fear in her voice, "Why does everything hurt? Where's Liam?"

"Hey hey," Tracy sat up and took Y/n's hand, "It's okay." She nodded, "Do you remember anything?"

"I remember the bench." Y/n wracked her brain, trying to think, "I remember going upstairs for a shower but nothing past that. Did I have another flashback?"

"No, you fell down the stairs." Tracy told her, "You weren't feeling well yesterday, do you remember that?" Y/n nodded, "And you went upstairs for a shower and just collapsed down the stairs."

"Oh gosh. So what's wrong with me?" Y/n asked before Mike and Liam walked in with a female doctor, "Liam!" Y/n beamed at him and he ran towards her, going round the opposite side of the bed to Tracy and taking Y/n's other hand.

"Are you alright?" Liam asked after giving her a kiss on the forehead.

"Apart from everything hurting and not being able to move, I'm great." She said sarcastically as she smiled at him.

"Hi Y/n I'm your nurse." The nurse made her way over to Y/n with a small trolley, "I'm Orchid." She smiled and Y/n smiled back at her, "Is it okay if I just do some checks on you?"

"Yeah that's fine." Y/n nodded,

"You can choose who you want to stay with you, seeing as we will be checking some certain areas." The nurse explained, preparing some stuff on the trolley.

"Uhm, just Liam if that's alright?" Y/n looked at Tracy and Mike who smiled at her,

"That's fine kid," Mike said, "We'll see you after." Mike and Tracy both walked out of the room.

"So from the checks last night, we reckon you've got at least one broken rib and that you're pregnant-" The nurse said casually,

"Wait what?!" Y/n tried to sit up again before yelling and falling back down onto her pillow, "No I can't be!"

"When was the last time you participated in unsafe practice?" Orchid asked her and Y/n's heart dropped. She looked at Liam who gave her a knowing look.

"Did you know?" She asked him and he nodded. Y/n didn't say anything. Orchid pulled out a scanner and plugged it into the wall.

"I'm just going to scan your stomach, is that okay?" She asked and Y/n just nodded, a tear falling down her cheek. The nurse ran the scanner over Y/n's stomach and looked at the tablet that reflected the machine. She ran over the bottom of Y/n's stomach a few times.

"That's too low for a baby isn't it?" Y/n asked, watching the nurse.

"It does seem like it," Orchid said slowly, "I'm just going to quickly take these scans to the boss of this department and see what she thinks." Orchid stood up and left the room, leaving Liam and Y/n alone.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Liam asked her, rubbing circles on her hand with his thumb.

"I didn't want it to be true." Y/n sniffed, "I'm sorry." She looked at him with tears in her eyes and he placed his free hand on her cheek.

"You don't need to be sorry, whatever this is I'm going to be here the whole time okay?" He caressed her cheek and she nodded before Orchid and another lady came in.

"Are all of the doctors here females?" Y/n whispered to Liam and he shrugged.

"We know about your past," The other doctor answered, "We want to make sure you feel as safe as possible so we thought we'd put our female staff on the job instead of our males. I'm Ashley by the way."
