Y/N pov

I woke up before Jake but after Neytiri, who was sat above my hammock, on a branch.

"So," she started, "who's gonna babysit him today?"

"I don't mind doing it." I replied. "I don't have anything going on today anyway."

"How about you take him this morning and I will this afternoon." Neytiri suggested.

"Sounds good." I responded.

I climbed out my hammock and sat down over his. He looked quite peaceful while he was asleep, but maybe that was because his mind wasn't actually in the body. I saw him stir and his eyes slowly open.

"Come on." I said. "Get up, we haven't got all day."

"I just woke up, Jesus." Jake replied. "Can we eat first?"

"No." I responded. "We'll go straight outside where you I will teach you some basics and we will forage our own food." We began walking out of the hometree. "Then this afternoon you will start to learn our language with my sister."

We got outside and I called over a pa'li (direhorse) and pat it's back. "Get on." Jake clumsily climbs onto the animal as I hold the pa'li's queue out to him. "This is shahaylu, the bond." Jake links his queue to the pa'li's, causing both of their pupils to dilate. "Feel her heartbeat, her breath. Feel her strong legs."

Jake nods and closes his eyes, sinking deeper onto the bond. "You may tell her what to do, in here." I said gesturing to my forehead. Suddenly, the animal shoots forward, causing the avatar to fall off into a pile of mud. I laughed slightly and walking over to him, "you really quite stupid." I joked.

I reached my hand out for him to take, only for him to pull me down into the mud as well.

"You skxawng!" I exclaimed.

"That'll teach you to laugh at me" he replied, laughing as he spoke.

Tsu'tey and another young hunter appeared. "You should go away." he beckoned.

Jake turned to me. "I knew he could speak English."

Tsu'tey then turned to me. "This alien will learn nothing. A rock sees more."

I sighed in agreement before patting his pa'li on the thigh, causing it to run off.

We walked around the hometree as we approached where Neytiri was. "Why are we here?" Jake asked.

"You're gonna send the afternoon with Neytiri remember, you learn the language." I responded.

We were sat in the control room as I was explaining the layout of Hometree. "You've got outer columns, then a secondary ring here, and an inner ring. Then a core structure, it's like a spiral, that's how they move up and down."

"I'm gonna need accurate scans of all these columns." Quaritch replied.

"Roger that." I said.

I entered the lab to see Norm, Grace and Max packing everything up.

"I'm not gonna let Quaritch and Selfridge micro-manage the thing. We're going up into the mountains." Grace said. "There's a mobile link up at Site 26 that we could work out of."

"The Hallelujah Mountains?" Norm questioned.

Grace nodded at him, causing him to grin. "Yessss!" he exclaimed, he them glanced at me and passive-aggressively retorted, "the legendary Floating Mountains of Pandora? Heard of them?"

We landed at the base and entered it, both of the Links were really rundown.

"Jake, take number two, it's the least glitchy. Norm, I need you to operate Jake's link."

He sighed and rolled his eyes as I climbed in the Link and closed my eyes.
