Chapter 2
'Honey, do you know where my keys are? I can't seem to find them...' a loud voice woke Becky up from her sleep. She let out a big sigh before even finding the energy to respond.
'Check you jacket's pocket baby.' She said with a raspy voice. She heard metal clinging together.
'Got them, thanks honey. I'll be off to work. Have a nice day.' The door closed, so Becky decided to close her eyes for another second.
She had alot of tasks to do today. She still had to call the owner of the venue they were planning to hire for the wedding, the bouquets still had to be put together, the invitation carts needed to be send out today,... it brought her alot of unnecessary stress, but it had to be perfect.
This was a one time moment in her life. After everything she's been through, this had to be perfect.
After 4 years, her boyfriend finally asked her to marry him. It wasn't really in the most special way, but she wasn't complaining about it.
'Okay, time to get up now.' she said to herself. She took a warm shower and listed the things she needed to do today one more time.
First thing on her list was getting the invitation carts and posting them to everyone that had to come to the wedding. They weren't planning on a big wedding. They wanted to keep it small, with close family and some friends.
She parked her car and entered the fancy shop that was way to expensive.
'Hi, can I help you with something?' The employee asked her a little too enthusiastic for her liking.
'Hello, I came to pick up the invitation carts under the order name of Becca Armstrong.' The employee searched for her order and gave her the packet. The carts looked really nice, the design came out perfect.
She payed for everything and got back home so she could start writing all the addresses on the envelopes. After 2 long hours, she was finally done and gave her right hand a much needed break. She made some bibimbab with the leftovers from yesterday. Before she knew it, it was 3 pm and was off to her next destination.
She could use some help in picking out the bouquets. Although she wanted to do it with her fiancé, Nop. He barely had time for that because of his job, so she called her best friend for help.
'Why are you calling me again...' Yuki started when she picked up the phone, pretending to be annoyed.
'Hello to you too, shithead.' She heard Yuki laughing silently.
'You have some time to came and pick out a bouquets with me? I don't really wanna do it alone...?' Yuki responded with 'where is your hubby?' Becky rolled her eyes.
'Working, you know that. Please, I could really use the help.' Becky pleaded. Yuki was never a big fan of Nop. She never told her friend why, but it was better to not invite the both of them in the same room or things could get heated.
She made a mental note to talk to her about that before her wedding, because she wasn't planning on breaking up a fight on her special day.
'Alright, I'll be there. Text me the address, yeah?' In 15 minutes, Yuki and Becky entered the flower shop. They were just on time for her appointment.
'Good afternoon ladies, how are you doing?' The flower lady asked them. She had this handsome smile on her face, the one you only see in the toothpaste commercials.
She eyed Yuki quickly from head to toe, but Yuki was to busy untangling her sweater out of some branches they past. ''Interesting'' Becky thought.
'Hello Tee, I hope we're still on time for picking out the bouquets.' Tee stepped out from the counter and leaded them to the back of the shop.
'Ofcourse, let's look at some samples first, shall we.' Yuki followed her, while Becky picked out a leaf from her hair.
'You're an idiot, you know that' she whispered to her best friend. Yuki just clicked her tongue in response, offended by her friend. An hour later Becky had put together the perfect bouquet. Purple lilies, her favorite.
'Alright ladies, I'll make up the bouquet and keep you updated. The day before your wedding, I'll dropp off the whole order at the venue.' Becky puffed out some air, her mental to-do list was finally getting shorter.
They were leaving the shop after saying goodbye to the owner.
'Wait!' Tee suddenly called out. She came running towards them. Did she forget to pay? Did she forget her phone at the counter?
'This is for you.' she suddenly gifted a beautiful rose to Yuki, that she hid behind her back, before quickly disappearing. Yuki was staring at the rose in her hand and hid her red cheeks with her hair.
'That.. that was so freaking cute.' Yuki didn't know what to say and just started walking quickly out of the shop. Becky followed her best friend with a big smile on her face.
'You know, she was eyeing you up the moment we entered the shop.' Yuki can be so oblivious sometimes. Her friend was silent, to embarrassed to speak.
Becky dropped off her friend. 'Thanks for helping me! I own you one. Also, ask her out next time.' That made Yuki's face red as a tomato once again.
'Shut up, will ya. I don't do dating, you know that.' Becky rolled her eyes at the comment.
'Then get her under the sheets, honey. She was drooling while eyeing you, just saying.' At that, Yuki closed the door and walked in her house. Becky called it a day and went back home. Nop would be coming home any moment now, so she started making dinner. Just in time, she heard the lock of the door and keys entering her home.
'Wow, smells amazing in here. What are you making?' Nop came in sight and walked up to her, giving her a quick kiss and a squeeze in her butt.
'Aah Nop' she exclaimed and hit him slightly on his chest. 'It's kimchisoup with some side veggies.' He laughed and walked to their room to put some more comfortable clothes on.
'How was your day, honey.' He asked from a far. 'I did the invitations and the flowers for the venue.' She said loudly. 'Mm good job' he responded. He was never that interested in the wedding stuff.
'So how was your day?' She asked him instead. 'Fine, made some business deals and had some meetings. Boring stuff. There was this old hag complaining about...' Becky stopped listening, she spaced out when hearing him talk about his job.
She couldn't help it. Occasionally she would laugh and nod her head to make sure he knew she was still listening. In her head she was making other lists about what she had to do the following day.
She would check out the venue again, making sure it was the perfect location. After that she still needed get some work done at her shop.
Becky had her own vintage store where she worked 4 days a week. She got it as heritage from her father, who passed away couple years ago. She wanted to continue his work and keep the store running.
Zoning back in present time, Becky took a deep breath. She cleaned the dishes and put her pyjamas on.
'What are you watching' she asked Nop, who was already on the couch watching tv.
'Fast & Furious' he responded, not taking his eyes off of the screen. Becky definitly was not gonna watch that movie. So she kissed him goodnight and went to bed.
Laying there under the covers, she scrolled her phone for a good 10 minutes before dosing off. But just as she was about to fall asleep, a thought passed through her mind "what am I doing?"
She felt a weird sensation in her body. She could't really place her feeling and thoughts. She was feeling a little anxious for some reason. Suddenly her mind took her back to her past, remembering her.
Her ex-girlfriend hadn't crossed her mind in such a long time. Why now? She had always supressed her mind into not remember her past anymore. She couldn't, it hurts too much.
But here she is... wondering about a person she hasn't seen in 7 years. She shouldn't be thinking about this.
'Let's put on some light music to fall asleep' she took her phone and played some quite piano music. And eventually she dosed off, but still with her in the back off her mind.
