Aemond thought Ara was the most Beautiful woman in the world. And he could not believe she was his. But he did wonder what would happen when he asked her to marry him because she was still engaged to Jace. Although her letters had dwindled he knew that part of her would always love him because Jace was her first love and that's not something you just let go of.
But they got moons a year of good. Almost a year of love and happiness and he wanted that forever and he didn't want the uncertainty of what if he came back and what if she wanted Jace instead of him. He wanted to certainty that she really was his forever.
"Ara..." Aemond declared and she looked up to him. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera were with her and Aemond pictured her as a mother. They could have their own children one day. She was a wonderful aunt she would make a wonderful mother.
"Hey handsome." Ara coed "we are picking stones for Hela and her babe to be."
"Thats sweet." Aemond agreed sitting beside her.
"Jaehaerys they are not for eating. We dont eat rocks." Ara remarked taking the stone slick with drool from his hand. Ara chuckled shaking her head.

'Im not saying that to his face. You crazy? I don't have a death wish.' Aemond declared.
'Oh come on give me a little excitement in my life.' Ara begged as she tossed Jaehaerys into the air and he shrieked with joy when Ara caught him bringing her lips to Jaehaerys belly and blowing raspberries then doing the same to his little cheeks and hands.
Aemond sat on his palms and watched and let himself imagine what it would be like being Aranyani's husband. Being the father of her future children. Having this perfect little family but it was short lived because Aegon came marching up.
'Is this man bothering you, Petal?' Aegon mused.
'Aemond? Never.' Ara declared. "Daeron, always... but he's not here right now."
"He's been extra moody lately." Aegon agreed.
"He's on his monthly apparently." Ara teased. Aegon stared back at her.
"Men can get those?" Aegon shouted suddenly terrified.
"Poor Hela." Ara whispered as she sat up.
"Aranyani, can men-"
"You are not man so I dont think you have to worry." Ara went on and Aegon rose a curious brow.
"Oh, Petal... I'm a man." Aegon corrected making his voice lower.
"No, but Aemond is." Ara declared and Aegon scoffed looking between them.
"Why are you out here?" Aegon questioned looking around, swatting at flies.
"For your new baby to be." Ara remarked.
"Rocks? No, I like wine." Aegon corrected.
"For the baby, stones, some are crystals... they each hold a different story." Ara remarked holding one up. Aegon took it from her.
"What is this one's story?" Aegon entertained and Aemond chuckled.
"Well, that one had a great journey," Ara declared. "Lived a long life and then got sucked on by Jaehaeys." Aegon blinked back at her before letting the stone fall to the ground.
"Thought it felt a bit wet." Aegon agreed.
"I think we have a few good ones." Ara remarked as she picked up Jaehaerys. "Aegon, get your daughter." Ara instructed and Jaehaera stared up at him.
"No." Aegon corrected.
'Can you at least pretend you love her in front of me?" Ara questioned incredulously.
'I do... love her.' Aegon protested weakly.
"'You havent held her once that I have seen. Or anyone has seen.'' Ara corrected and Aemond looked between them curiously. Aemond would be a good father, would love his and Ara's children, they would never second guess if they were loved. They would always know it.
'Thats not true' Aegon again protested. 'after she was born I held her.'
"Man up and hold your daughter." Ara demanded. Again Jaehaera looked to Aegon confused. It was no surprise that Aegon wasnt fatherly, they didnt have a good father to look up to but it was more then that.
Firstborn sons inherit titles and lands, they get married and carry on the family name; second born sons, any son born after the first, so the third, fourth, fifth, all under the same boat of second sons, so instead of titles and lands these second born sons instead, usually become knights and prove their value serving the king or winning battles. Aemond coveted the crown, Aegon didnt. He liked drinking and flirting and fucking women he shouldnt.
Aemond had thought that as second son himself, Aegon had it made but from where he stood with Ara in his arm, second son wasnt looking so bad. Aemond wouldnt change a thing. While Aegon's life seemed to be on a downhill slope, Aemonds life was only looking up from here.
