Chapter 18: The Imprisonment

The henchmen led Mey, Wooyoung, and Yeosang to a cavern that was filled with torches, blanket, supplies, and other items. They began to lead them down the cavern where it was dark, damp, and no life could be seen. Two lead Wooyoung to  a wall and chained him up. Two others lead Mey a few feet away and chained her next to him. Yeosang, however, was chained across from them, now passed out from the amount of blood that he lost. Once they all left, and the light was gone from their sight, Wooyoung began to fumble with the chains as well as Mey. Mey struggled more against the chains, ignoring how much they were now bleeding. But she took this to her advantage. She kept it up until blood covered her wrists and the cuffs around them. After some time, she was free by using her blood as a way to slide out. She made her way over to Wooyoung and took the hair clip out of her hair to try and pick the lock. It was a struggle, but eventually, Wooyoung was finally free. Mey was happy it was dark so Wooyoung did not see what she did to herself; she wouldn't hear the end of it. They both quickly made their way over to Yeosang, and Mey propped his head up against the cave wall. She looked down at his wound to see it was still bleeding out. She quickly tore her skirt and began to make bandages. Once Wooyoung was done picking the lock and carefully placed his arms at his side, he knelt beside Mey to help her.

    "Wooyoung, I need medical supplied and light. Anything you can find." Mey whispered to him.

    "Right away, Mey." Wooyoung replied. He was about to stand when Mey quickly grabbed his arm.

    "Do not risk anything, understand? I do not want to lose Yeosang, but I do not want to lose you too." Wooyoung knelt back down and took her hand now feeling the blood on her wrists, but did not say anything.

    "I promise, princess. I always keep my promises." With that, Wooyoung stood from where he was kneeling and carefully began to look around the cave. Thankfully, Jaeyoung and his henchmen were all towards the opening of the cave talking and laughing without a care in the world. He carefully began to dig through the supplies as he glanced up to check on the others. He was able to grab a few medical supplies and a small lantern, and fluid to light the lantern with. He slowly made his way back to Mey and Yeosang to see Mey now holding the bandages she made against Yeosang's wound. He quickly made his way to her and helped her sort out the different supplies. As Mey began to now tend to Yeosang, Wooyoung managed to light the lantern. He looked down to see Mey tending to his wound, crying as she did. He then looked down at her wrists to see the blood and torn skin. He set the lantern down and walked over to her chains that held her against the wall. Once he saw her blood and skin on the cuffs, he felt tears threatening to sting his eyes. How he now wished he freed himself sooner. He wiped his eyes, stood up, and walked back over to Mey to help her with Yeosang. They helped him lay on the ground and placed a blanket under his head and covered him with another. Mey then checked his forehead with the back of her hand then his cheeks.

    "He has a slight fever. We will need to watch him closely; it could get worse." She took another piece of cloth and dampened it from some water running in the cave placing it on his forehead. She then checked his breathing and was relieved that it was still steady. "We should try and get some rest. We can't do anything tonight." Mey sat back against the wall beside Yeosang and closed her eyes, but opened them again when she felt gentle hands on her wrists. She looked to see Wooyoung holding back tears as he began to put ointment on them. His breath and hands were shaky as he continued to bandage her.

    "Why did you do this to yourself?"

    "It was either myself or Yeosang and you, Wooyoung. I saw the opportunity, and  I took it."
