Umeji's POV:

I get out of bed and go to get breakfast. I'm so glad my mom is way nicer than my dad, my dad.... he got arrested for first degree murder.

"Good morning sweetie I made your favorite! Waffles!" My mom exclaimed when she saw me walk down the stairs.

"Thanks mom"

"No problem" my mom brought me my plate and we ate our food together.

"Mom? Why aren't you at work? Don't you have to go to work like... 30 minutes before I wake up?" I asked, confused.

"OH SHOOT! I completely forgot ooooooh! What is my manager going to think about this!" She said, extremely worried.

"Well I would explain that you wanted to make a special breakfast? I dunno..." I murmured that last part.

"OH, yes! I'll say that! Thank you Umeji!" She thanked me while grabbing her things and rushing out the door. I laughed to myself while eating my waffle. Once I had finished I got up, got my things and waited for my friends.

"Hey Umeji! I saw your mom rushing out the door. Is she okay?" Asked Hokuto, clearly worried for my mom

"She's fine she just forgot about work and is late" I answered his question with that.

"Oh ok" he sighed. Once the rest of my friends got there we started to walk to school. As usual we see the stupid highlighters walking and gossiping about the occult club. I'm honestly surprised the occult club takes it. If it were me I would beat them up on the spot, but I guess they don't want any violence which is perfectly fine. I heard them talking about a particular boy, the leader of the occult club, Shin Higaku. He was my only friend in middle school and the fact they were talking bad about him was enough to make my blood boil but I kept my cool.

We went to get our inside shoes on, we went to where we always go, by the Incinerator room. We talked about our usual things and how much we hate Musume and her group. While we were talking I saw a familiar face, Shin Higaku.

He was a shy, soft spoken boy probably because of all the bullying he endured. When we were in middle school he was funny, loud, and a complete doofus but I loved him anyway. I blushed hard and my friends saw.

"Oooo Umejis got a crush!!"

"Awwww who is it???" They all asked, curious about who was on my mind.

"N- NOTHING..." I said a little too loud. They all looked at me, clearly not believing it but they kept their mouths shut.

What I didn't notice was that Shin heard me and was looking at me. I quickly averted my gaze to the ground. "I wonder if he remembers me?" I thought to myself. The bell eventually rang and we waited a few minutes before going to class. I walked into my class and saw Shin looking down at the horrible word plastered on his desk.

"Cut yourself"

"I dare you to jump off the roof"

"No one cares about you"

"Just die"

"We don't want a occult freak at our school"

"From THE WHOLE CLASS?!?!?"

These bullies are cold hearted monsters who deserve to DIE! I clenched my fists as I remembered the thing written on my desk in middle school.

"horse boy"

"Slave owner"

"Die"

All because I lived in the country before I moved here. Those stupid bullies, they deserve hell.

I began to put my focus on Shin's face. He looked like he was planning his death. I need to stop him before he does. The bell rang signaling that the first class was done. Instead of going downstairs to eat with my friends I followed Shin, I just wanted to make sure he wouldn't try to jump during lunch time. The bullies came to him sitting at his desk. Their psychotic giggles, everything brought me into a rage.

"Hey shut up whores" I yelled at them hoping they would go away. They stood there, shocked and ran away out of fear. Shins purplish blue eyes darting around the room in confusion. He then found me, leaning against the doorway.

"Umeji... why did you do that?" He asked

"I don't like seeing them being rude"

"O- oh ok"

"Wanna eat lunch together?"

"U-uh sure, yea...."
We walked into a storage closet and ate there.

"Why are we here and not eating by the occult room?" I asked curiously.

"Uh well.... the bullies usually go and look for me there and verbally abuse me..." Shin said.

"I-I can protect you" I stuttered, what was I saying?

"O-oh really you'd do that.... for me...?"

"Yea.... yea I would" we ate in peaceful silence and when the bell rang we walked to class together. We waited untill the teacher walked in.

"Oh I'm shocked Umeji, you got here on time you usually don't do that..." Mrs. Kanokogi said.

"Oh well I guess I just felt like being early.." I said, confused on why she said "on time".

"Oh yea you were here before I walked in huh"

"Yep" as we waited more and more students rushed into the classroom and took their seats. After class I ran up to the teacher and asked if the seating chart could be changed so I could sit by Shin.

"Um sure but why are you so interested in Shin all of a sudden?" She asked

"Oh he just seems cool and I would like to be by him more"

"Oh ok the seating chart will get changed"

As soon as she said that I thanked her and quickly ran to the rooftop since I saw Shin go up there. He was looking at the blue, clear sky. He looked so mysterious and gorgeous, his hair was flowing in the wind so perfectly. I was staring for a long time that I didn't even realize that Hokuto came to check up on me. I jumped when I saw him staring at me, .... looking at Shin. He smirked then walked away as if he knew what my thought process was. How I feel about Shin, everything. I quickly ran to him.

"Don't tell anyone about this. Got it?" I said through clenched teeth.

"Okaaay I won't I just wanted to know what you were doing, you know why you didn't come to eat with us and stuff" he said.

"Ok" I said and walked back to where I was. His shoes were off... then he climbed over the fencing. I ran to him as quickly as I could.

"SHIN DONT DO IT PLEASE" I yelled while running to him. He looked at me shocked as I grabbed him and pulled him back on the rooftop.

"Please..." I whimpered. Gosh why was I crying. I'm so stupid.
