Thanks For Protecting Me . . .

Chapter Nineteen

Umeji POV

"Geez people like HIM need to go to hell" I muttered to myself while eating, the event still fresh on my mind.

"What did you say?" My mom asked. I freaked, she heard me.

"Oh nothing! It's all fine!" I pondered on what would happen if the police didn't get there on time. I probably would have killed him out of rage. Now that I think of it, I would love to see his head on a stick, with blood dripping down that stuck indicating it was fresh. I quickly snapped out of my thoughts, Shin was waving his hand infront of my face.

"Helloooo" He whispered. He was just to darn cute!

"Oh hey . . ." I mumbled. My mind kept wanting to daydream about killing that man. Shin looked quite worried, I smiled at him so he wouldn't be worried for the moment. After dinner was done and Shin left, I went to go to bed. I brushed my teeth, took a shower, put my pajamas on, and went to sleep on my bed.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock playing GUY.EXE really loudly. (*wiggles eyebrows* IM SORRY-)

"Ok! Ok!" I yelled at my alarm clock as if it was alive. I slapped my hand over it and it stopped. I got up and got ready. I ate breakfast then walked out side to see most of my friends there.

"You're on the news Umeji!" Gaku celebrated as soon as I took my first step out side.

"Oh really? For what?"

"For protecting that girl!"

"Oh yea that" I mumbled, I saw Saku Baysu walk with her sister but she was . . . different. I don't know how to explain it but she just looked, different. She held her head low and had a posture similar to Shin. Her sister was visibly trying to cheer her up, but it didn't work.

"Hey we should pick Shin up" I told them.

"Awwww your boyyyyfriiiend" Hayarani teased. I laughed at it.

"Yea and what have you got with Hokuto?" I asked. Everyone made a 'ooooo' sound while Hokuto and Hayarani stood there, silent, with a slight blush on their faces.

We then walked to Shins place and picked him up. The we went to school, it was boring as usual. After all the classes it was cleaning time I went to were Shin was. He was talking to Hana. Hana picked him up bridal style and started to run when she saw me.

"Hey get back here! Give him back!" I yelled.

"Nahhhh" Hana yelled back. I could hear Shin laughing, the Hana stopped and turned around.

"Only if you tell me your status" She huffed, clearly out of breath.

"UGH fine, give my boyfriend back ok?" I said, asking and saying our status at the same time. Her face quickly turned into a 'I knew it' face and gave him back.

"HAVE FUUUN" Hana yelled while she ran to the girls bathroom.

"Let's go to the rooftop!" I suggested to Shin.

"Sure!" He said while getting a firm hold on his bag that held his sketchbook. We walked to the rooftop and sat down, hidden from view by the air vents. Shin took his sketchbook out and started to draw something. I looked over and it was a cryptd.

"What's that cryptd? I've never seen it" I questioned. His eyes lit up at the question and began rambling about something called 'the hide behind' and what it does, and its anatomy? I still question how he got that information when he said its main thing is that you can't see it. He said it was derived from men who go out to the woods and die from a fallen tree when they were trying to cut it down. Then gained a empathy towards people who go out into the woods to cut trees down and tries to save them, but in the process killing the human.  (That's my theory btw sooo yea-)

We sat there talking about this creature and how it able to hide itself. He likes the idea that the hide behind has a special organ that allows it to go invisible, and is triggered when someone looks at it. He also said that sometimes the organ and fail and it has to hide itself behind a tree and peak out from behind it. This would explain the sightings of it, and why it looks like a creepy 30 year old man. He then went on about the process that happens when the men die, they first go through a rapid period where they gain the physical, inside and out, features that defines one. He said that only about 3% of men that die live through this rapid reconstruction of their bodies. Then after that they start to gain an animal mentality. Then comes when They prey upon humans and eat every once in a while. (Kinda went on a nerd-tangent their about my theories- sorryyyy)

I checked the time and it was 5:50!

"Uuh Shin . . . It's 5:50 we should probably start walking home." I hated to interrupt him, but if we didn't leave the teachers would get mad.

"Oh ok" He got up and held his hand out for me to grab, I obviously grabbed his hand and pulled myself up. Then we walked home. It was a very chilly walk since it was the middle of November. Me and him held hands as we walked to his house. His house quickly came into view.

"Bye Umeji" Shin hugged me and ran up to his house, waving his hand in the air signaling another goodbye. I waved back and started walking to my house. Once I was home I told my mom about my day. I mostly said it was boring then, I got to the part where Shin told me about the hide behind and his theories about it. She was quite fascinated by it as well and let me ramble on about what he said about it and the places he got his information. After I told her about the hide behind it quickly turned into a 'how cute he is when he rambles on and on about that stuff' tangent. She listened though, which I'm grateful for. My mom has always been there for me, even when I cried about my dad going to jail, she was still there by my side. She was there through my moody tween years, every step of the way.

"Hey You should probably get to bed . . . It's after 10" She told me. I quickly ran up to my room to brush my teeth, change, and go to bed. I practically fainted once I laid down.
