"Thanks for taking me shopping. Beomgyu did offer to take me but I feel like he will just tell me that I'd look good in everything" Yeji laughs.
We're in the car on the way to a dress shop. Surprisingly, my mother gave her credit card to pay for Yeji's dress. I thought maybe she was having a change of heart about her being a part of our family then I realized that she just doesn't want Yeji to look bad because it will make her look bad.
"It's my pleasure. I get to skip school for this so I don't mind at all" I chuckle.
Since this event is this Friday and the dress shop that my mom likes going to is far away, she let me skip school to take Yeji. If we go after school then we won't be able to get back home until late at night and they would rather have me miss school than be out at night.
"I don't know if I'll be much help though if something looks good or not so I'd say trust whoever my mom put in charge" I add. My mom did call ahead to get some dresses ready for Yeji.
"It's okay. You'll be honest if something does look completely horrendous, right?" She laughs and I nod as I laugh with her.
Yeji and I have spent some time with just the two of us before but that's usually at night. This is the first time we've spent time together in broad daylight. I can't say if it's weird but she has a different aura.
Yeji and I get to know each other better again. She shares the good parts of her life before being kicked out by her parents. She shares how she met Lia in college and how she's the one that set her up with her now girlfriend.
It is good to know that Yeji is not against same sex relationships. Maybe if I have courage in the future then I can tell her about me and I wouldn't feel so alone anymore.
She also shares her relationship with her ex which takes me by surprise. She shares how he just suddenly broke up with her and when she tried to find the reason why then he became an asshole that would purposely say hurtful things to her.
She shares how much she cried and how despite the pain she was feeling, she still wanted him back. Lia then thought it was a good idea to take her to a party and that's where her life changed the most.
"Are you talking to Lia now? I know she's been worried about you" I curiously ask.
"I text her and update her so she doesn't worry. I told her that aside from your mom, everyone is trying to make me feel comfortable. I talk to her about you a lot and how sweet you've been throughout this whole thing" she states and I blush a little. Thankfully, not enough for her to notice.
I curse myself for blushing because why would I blush like that? I am sweet so it's not like she's lying.
"So how did you know that Lia was into women?" I change the topic.
"We were hanging out in my room then she started crying and she told me. I was already friends with Somi and I knew she had a crush on Lia so I introduced them to each other. I didn't think they would actually hit it off. I guess I'm a natural cupid" she smiles and I smile too.
"Lia is pretty amazing" I say under my breath.
"You like her too?" She questions and I panic.
"As a person, yes. She's nice and she's always treated Yuna like her own sister" I answer, hopefully she doesn't sense my gayness. She may be accepting of it but I don't think I'm ready to be out to her.
"Ahh" she slowly nod her head and now I'm freaking out that she doesn't believe me.
My phone rings through my car and it's my best friend calling me. I want to thank her for calling at the best time to relieve me from the awkwardness that just happened.
