I am Forgotten

CHAPTER 4: FORCED WISH

I walk back to my home and enter my room. I caught Iris and Tom making out. I ignored them and went to the bathroom. I closed the door and sat down. "Why is my life like shit?" I said to myself, quietly. I cross my arms over my knees and rest my head on my arms.

Iris walks in and notices me right away. "Oh, hi Nicolas, I didn't see you-. What happened?" I look up with a little bit of tears. We both walk out of the bathroom and I explain everything. Tom is okay to stay because Iris told him about my life. They both comfort me.

I am in this dream, this time it has a white room. The goddess stands in front of me. "It was you who gave me those horrible dreams, wasn't it! Why did you do it!" The goddess raises her hand. "It was me but it's for a purpose." I growl "You didn't bring me here to tell me why! You brought me here to do something for you again!" The goddess nodded "Yes, I did. You need to break the heart of the closest person to you."

The first name that came up in my mind was Eva. "No..." I replied. The goddess squinted her eyes at me then spoke "You either do what I say or you get erased from existence." My eyes widen. "This has to be a joke. You can't really erase me from existence." The goddess replied "Are you testing me?" I snapped "Go ahead! Do it! I never wanted this life anyway!"

The next afternoon I get a text from Eva. She wants the talk to me. I ignore her at first but then she tries to get my attention by sending more messages. That made me reply.

Me: What do you want to talk about?

Eva: Nicolas, can we talk somewhere quiet?

Me: Now?

Eva: Tonight, if that's fine. at the park?

Me: Sure

The sun sets and I leave the building. As I walk to the park, my mind was in wonder. What is her reason for wanting to talk to me? I have a bad feeling about it that makes me not want to find out. I wait a bit and then see her walk towards me. I stare at her eyes from a few meters away but then look away.

I still like her but I'm not sure if it's the right thing or not. "Hey Nic." Eva said. "Oh, hey..." I replied. She takes a deep breathe and speaks "I need to tell you something. I lied about him confessing to me. We were actually dating but kept it secret. I do like you but I need to focus on my current relationship. Can we just be friends?" I stutter "O-oh. O-of course." I stay silent.

"It doesn't look like you're okay with it." she said while noticing. I clench my fists and respond "Of course I'm not okay. I'm glad that you're happy with your current relationship, but it hurts me! I feel like my feelings were played with. I've done so much for you. I know most of your secrets and kept them secret. We had each other's backs. We looked after each other when no one else couldn't. You know we are in love with each other but you choose to be friends! Do you even care about me and how I feel?" Eva replied "I do care about you. It's just- I don't have the words to explain it." I snapped "You want me as a friend, then you're getting it. I will still be your best friend, just won't have feelings for you!" Eva's eyes widened and she said "But I still will..." My eyes widen as I realize what I just said.

She walks away but I grab her arm. "Eva, wait. I didn't mean to-" She cut me off saying "Of course you didn't. Just leave me alone..." She walks away and I couldn't do anything but stand there. I just broke her heart...

"Are you satisfied now! You like messing up my life! Why don't you stop torturing me and end my life already!" I start tearing up and sit down on a bench. A couple minutes later, I walk back to the building and walk inside my room. I notice that it was empty. Not a soul in sight. I lie on my bed and ugly cry myself to sleep.
