I am Forgotten

CHAPTER 7: MONSTER

"I see a lot has happened while I was gone. You have grown up so fast. What I noticed is that you matured faster than an average woman. I'm proud of you." said my mother. She touched my face and looked at me. This was new. As she let go, she said "I have to go now." I smiled softly and she disappeared. I dropped my knees on the floor and looked down on the ground.

I slammed my fist in the ground, realizing my fist dug into the ground. I look down and talk to myself out loud. "I still cry from fear. I keep making mistakes. I can't even control my powers. I still lie. I'm still emotional. I have been in love with the same person for 8 years. How have I grown? How have I changed?" I move my fist and lay on my back, looking at my hand. "Only my physical body changed. I still haven't."

I close my eyes and listen to the sounds around me. I hear birds chirping, the soft wind blowing through the tree branches. I could hear so many different sounds. The sounds are getting louder. It's starting to overwhelm me. Suddenly it all stops into silence...

I open my eyes and I was in a dark room. No, not this again. I turn around to look for an exit. I couldn't see any exit but I found my monster form instead. She was looking at me, and she growled. I stood there in shock.

The monster looked terrifying. "No wonder people were scared of me. I looked like a terrifying monster." I said to myself. "Wait, I look like a monster but I know I'm not one." I walk closer to the beast and put my hand out to touch the creature. She growled at first but then let me touch her. Her fur was soft.

I was expecting it to be rough and thick. I carried on petting her. She was so calm. I pressed my head softly on hers. I closed my eyes and rubbed her ears while having my head still touch hers. I let go and back away slowly, still having my eyes closed.

I opened my eyes, looking around. I'm back in the forest. I try to dust myself off but then notice I transformed. I turned back to my human form then dust myself. I look at the blue sky then start walking out of the woods. I arrive at my car and unlock it.

I climb in and start driving to the university. I make it to my room and close the door behind me. My back slides down the door as I slowly sit down on the floor. I take out my phone and see 4 missed calls and 16 messages. Iris called me 3 times and Eva called too.

I check the messages and find that 3 chats messaged. Iris, the Studio group, and Eva. I didn't even read the messages when I switched the phone off. My phone vibrates again. I pick it up to see who it was and it was Jake calling. I decline and take a new pair of clothes out.

The clothes I'm wearing is ripped. I'm surprised no one noticed it. I take the new pair of clothes and head to bathroom. I close the door, put the shower on and get undressed. I drop the torn clothes on the floor. "That was my favourite work uniform." I said and sighed.

I put my hand in the shower to feel the temperature. I step in and shower and close the sliding door. After a while, I finish showering and walk out, all dry and dressed. I clean my ears and plug my hair straightener. I straighten my hair and brush it. Once, I'm finished, I look at my phone and see 21 messages.

I start from the first message sent to me. It's from Iris. I read her message.

Iris: Nicolas? Where are you?

Iris: Please come home.

Iris: We're worried about you.

Iris: Please answer?

Iris: I know you transformed in front of everyone. And I'll help you deal with this. Just please tell me where you are so we can talk?

Iris: It's been 2 hours and we haven't heard from you.

Me: I'm in our room.

Iris: Thank goodness! You almost gave me a heart attack. I'm coming now.

Me: Okay.

I look at the Studio group to see what everyone was saying. I could tell they were all scared by reading the group chat. Tom and Iris were defending me. One of the workers had a video of me in my monster form. I wanted to leave. Not just the group, but everything in my life and hide.

Jerry: What should we do? Nicolas is a monster. She looked terrifying.

Mike: I've called the police but they don't believe me.

Mike: Does anyone have a picture as proof?

Brandon: I have a video. I'll send it to you.

Tom: She's not a monster. She's a human being, like us. She's still the same person, just with a special ability.

Thato: You can't be serious? What if she was faking it all?

Precious: I wish I could believe you Tom but you have no proof.

Iris: You already saw with your own eyes that she stopped a fight between Andy and Jacob. She didn't hurt anyone. And she didn't stay for you all to attack her. That's why she ran. If she really was a monster, she would have killed all of us already. But she didn't. She's still the same Nicolas.

Iris: I'm looking for her now. Until I find her, you need to apologize to her. I don't care if you send her the apology. Just do it.

Tom: And don't call the cops on her.

Carla: Iris and Tom are right.

I look at the messages Eva sent me. She now sent me more than one message.

Eva: I saw your message last night. It wasn't your fault you snapped. I want to fix this.

Eva: Nicolas? Is everything okay? I'm sorry about last night. Please don't stay mad at me.

Eva: You haven't answered my call. Jake told me you aren't answering his calls? Is this because of our fight or is it something else? Please talk to me.

Eva: You're making me worried.

I read the messages but then a new one sends.

Eva: I saw the news. They really caught you transform? I'm coming to the university. Stay there if you are. Are you there?

Me: Yes, but you don't need to come. I'm already having Iris coming.

Eva: I'm letting Jake and Leo know.

Me: Please don't

Eva: They've read it already. See you there.

I cover my eyes with my hands and talk to myself "Argh, why does she do this to me? I don't want people coming in the building. Crap!" Jake sent me a message...

Jake: Hey Nicolas. You might be a monster on the outside but we know who you are on the inside. I know you don't want to talk and there might be people overwhelming you, but should I come. You might say no.

Me: Thanks for the support but it won't convince everyone that I'm not a killing machine.

Jake: I'll grab everyone that knows you and try to convince them that you aren't a monster.

Me: Thanks for trying.

I switch off my phone and sit by the wall. I hear a knock. "It's me Iris. Can I come in?" I heard her voice. "Yes." I answered.
