CHAPTER 6: THE FOREST

I heard a voice...It sounded familiar...Like I heard this voice everyday...I heard the voice calling me...

"Nicolas, my beautiful child, follow my voice." I had so many questions as I followed the voice, deeper into the forest. "Who are you?" I asked. "You'll find out soon enough, darling." said the voice. "What do you want from me?" I asked. The voice ignored me by saying "Follow my voice and I'll tell you everything."

I was about to ask another question when I saw a glowing figure ahead of me. I walked closer and the yellow figure looked at me. I recognized her face "Mom?" The figure smiles at me and said "We finally meet again, my angel." I hug her then let her go.

"Why didn't you call me to you sooner?" I asked. She replied "There were a lot of complications. But I'm here now." I asked "What complications?" She avoided my question with "It's a lot to take in. Maybe next time." I stood back even more and transformed. "My mother would tell me everything. You're not my mother. Why would you play with my feelings like that!?"

"Darling, do you really have to be like that? Alright, I'll tell you. But only if you transform back into human- ehem, your...birth form" I transformed back, still with caution. "I'm listening." I said. The figure cleared her throat and started talking "When you went to the lab to get tested, I thought nothing bad would happen. I was wrong, your father died and I was turning into an animal very slowly. I forgot what happened after I was completely transformed. I remember waking up in this form, killed in my animal form and then tried to find you. I couldn't be seen. I tried getting your attention many times but nothing worked at first. I over heard what the lab workers were actually doing, I was so glad when you found out and let everyone escape. The virus couldn't get into the system of those with a disability or disease. The workers found out how to do that and injected the virus into the innocent. There were more than a hundred people who came. Way more. They died because they received side effects from the virus. There were rooms underground that you never saw because the entrance was well hidden. Those people were given devices in their bodies. Max was one of them. He became a spy. Iris was one too. But she never escaped, along with the others. When I followed you, I tried helping you. I saw how you grew from my sweet daughter to my beautiful warrior child. You realized that the mutants were people and refused to kill them. You risked your life for the survivors with you. I believe Eva was your most important. Why was that?" Still shocked with all this, I replied "Wait, you didn't see the part where Eva and I kissed?" She shook her head and said "There were some parts that I blacked out and appeared in this place that looked like clouds. Those were the complications. I'm not sure when I'll see you again." I felt really shocked "I-I see...So you were stuck there for 5 whole years after my battle with the goddess." Her face changed and she responded "Goddess!? What goddess!?" I answered "I fought a goddess to save the world, that why no one remembers me. She reset the world. But there are things that haven't reset properly." She lifted my chin up and said "I guess then we should catch up on things." I smiled and started talking.
