I am Forgotten

CHAPTER 8: EVELYN AND NICOLAS

Iris walks in and hugs me. "I'm sorry about everything that happened today. What were you doing while we spent two 2 hours looking for you?" I responded while crying "Well, I-I ran into the forest- and- stayed there. Then I saw t-this glowing figure and it turned out t-to be my m-mother. She told me what she saw as a ghost. She said t-that she's proud of me. She disappeared and I was upset. I went into a dark room again and when I went out, I was transformed again. My clothes were ripped so I drove back here and took a shower. I then looked on WhatsApp to see the messages- and- yeah." She hugs me again and rubs my back. A few minutes later, we hear a knock on the door. Iris lets go and walks to answer the door. Eva was about to speak when Iris closed the door again.

"Please open the door, I'm here for Nicolas. Is everything okay?" said Eva through the door. Iris opened the door again and spoke "You shouldn't be here. You broke Nickie's heart and she loved you. She was there for you all the way and this is how you treat her. Sorry but you're not allowed in our room." Eva stopped Iris from closing the door and she spoke "Please let me in Nick, I'm sorry for everything and I wish I can make it up to you. I want to fix this as much as you do. I do want to be there for you. I realized that he wasn't the one. No one can replace you. I've always seen how important you were. You were the funny idiot when no one else was to make me laugh. You didn't care what people said about you... Just please talk to me." We all stayed quiet for a while and then I spoke "Your words admitted your mistake. You were wrong and you broke me. I got angry and snapped. I shouldn't have put my feelings on you." Eva then walked in and hugged me.

I pushed her away. I was usually the hugger but this wasn't the right time for a hug. Iris closed the door and went to the bathroom. Eva tried to speak but I cut her off and stood up "You've only said I was important to you when we fought. But did you really see me as important before that?" Eva didn't say anything.

I pinned her by the wall and spoke again "Did you only say you loved me back just so that you don't hurt my feelings?" Eva replied "No. I would never lie to you." I spoke "Before the mutant apocalypse happened, I confessed to you way before you confessed to Brian. You asked for us to be friends and you start dating him. I don't understand. Why do you keep hurting me like this?" Eva replied "If I remembered then I'd say I never meant to hurt you. I didn't think you were really in love. I thought I was just a simple crush and it wouldn't last." Tears started falling down my face. I said "You made fun of me and it made me insecure and I tried to be confident around you, but when I made fun of you or be honest on something, you'd be mad. You get mad when things don't get your way. You always get what you want."

Eva looked at me and then touched my face. Her hand was warm, but I glared at her. "You hurt me and you feel bad." Eva said "No, I don't. You're the most beautiful and amazing person in the world. I don't just see you as my best friend, but more than that. Way more. There are moments where I think of you every day. And I want to spend to rest of my life with you." I spot tears falling down her face and I stopped giving her glares. Our eyes meet and both her hands touched my face.

She leaned in and kissed me. She stopped and went back against the wall. I leaned in to kiss her back. "I guess you two have sorted things out now." Iris said. I backed away to give space for both of us to process.

"Alright, I'll tell Tom that everything is okay. Though we still need to sort out your identity on the news. People are looking for you." Iris said. She looks at her phone and types. "Alright. I've told Tom." I remembered the situation and try to think of what to do to make them not become afraid of me. We hear people talking outside and I predicted they wanted to ask me questions.

We then hear police sirens coming, then the sound stopped as the police came. "Nicolas van de Tyd, please step out of the building, . We're not going to ask again. We'll give you 30 seconds or we'll come in ourselves." One policeman said through the megaphone. We all look at each other and I nodded that I'm going out. I walk my way to the building's exit as everyone stares at me. Eva and Iris follow me out.

I walk out of the building and stand on the road, everyone staying away from me except Eva and Iris. "Please step away from the suspect." I nod to Eva and they leave my side. I look at them, then down on the floor. Guns are aimed at me, but not one shot at me. I take a deep breathe. My lift up head up in confidence and spoke "Here I am. What's the problem?"
