V hugged N tightly, but she felt nothing. It wasn't the first time she had noticed the lack of emotional connection between them. They had been together for years, he had loved her and she knew that but she couldn't reciprocate his feelings. She pulled back slightly and looked at N's face, searching for a spark, a feeling, anything. But there was nothing, just his goofy lovestruck face staring back at her.
V couldn't help but feel disappointed. She had tried these past few days to make it work between them, but it seemed that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't connect with N on a deeper level. It was frustrating because she liked him as a person, but there was no passion, no chemistry, no fire.
As she looked at N, V's mind wandered to Uzi. She couldn't help but compare the two, and the difference was stark. When she hugged Uzi, she felt overwhelmed with happiness, and she never wanted to let go. Uzi's touch ignited something inside her, a feeling of warmth and comfort that she had never experienced before.
V couldn't explain why she felt this way about Uzi. Maybe it was because Uzi has some kind of magical power, or because Valerie's feelings for her were so intense it affected V too, or maybe she just did like Uzi for Uzi.
As they parted, Uzi entered the room, and V's mood immediately lifted. She couldn't help but smile when she saw Uzi's face. When Uzi hugged her, V felt like she was on top of the world. It was as if Uzi's embrace had the power to wash away all of her troubles.
N noticed the difference in V's reaction to Uzi and couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. He wondered why V didn't seem to have any feelings for him and why Uzi seemed to have such a powerful effect on her.
But as he watched Uzi still clinging onto V, he saw sadness in her eyes. V whispered comforting words to Uzi, calling her "pretty girl". N's core ached for Uzi, and he wished he could make her feel better.
He stepped closer to Uzi. "Hey," he said softly. "You.. good Uzi?"
Uzi looked up at him, he could see tears-stains on her cheeks noting she must have been crying that night. And as quickly as she clung to V, Uzi started to cling to him, her tears soaking his coat. N stroked her hair gently, feeling a sense of protectiveness towards her. He wished he could take away all her pain and make her happy.
As they pulled apart, N noticed V watching them with a small smile on her face. He gave her a grateful nod before turning his attention back to Uzi.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I just feel so overwhelmed."
N tells Uzi not to worry and says he's going to make her breakfast. He heads to the kitchen and starts to work on something. After an hour and a half, he comes back to the living room carrying a plate. Uzi looks at the plate and sees something that looks and smells like dessert, but it's made of metal.
"Ta-da! Breakfast is served," N says, placing the plate in front of Uzi.
The dessert that N made for Uzi was a masterpiece. It was a layered confection that looked like a cake, with thin layers of shiny metal that gleamed in the light. The layers were separated by a filling that looked like a cream, but upon closer inspection, it was actually finely ground metal and cement mixed with a touch of oil (unprocessed of course). The whole thing was topped with a dollop of fluffy white "ice cream" that was also made of metal.
N had even taken the time to garnish the dessert with tiny edible flowers that added a pop of color to the otherwise monochromatic dish.
Uzi looks at the plate skeptically. "What is this?"
N explains to Uzi that he stumbled upon an old recipe book in a bookstore at the mall and saw this unique recipe for a metal dessert. He decided to give it a try and was surprised by how delicious it turned out.
