I slip on the last hoop earring just before

bing my purse and keys, I head out of my room and down the stairs.

My mum's voice is high and excited as she stands in the doorway and I grimace in disgust. She sounds just how a barbie doll would; squeaky and fake.

I reach the bottom step and stand behind mum, peeking over her shoulder.

Then it hits me when I see Cody leaning on the doorway. Today is Saturday, the day he and Max are moving in.

My lips twitch when I remember that I won't even be here for most of the day so I interrupt my mum by tapping her shoulder. She turns around and when she sees me, she brightens up. Her eyes are a little glazed over and I frown a little as I inspect her eyes more closely but she turns back around before I can find anything.

"Why don't you go with Melissa and she'll show you to your new room. I'll make tea." She says quickly. Turning around, she gives me a quick smile before rushing into the kitchen. Something's not right with her and since she's become more hurried than calm, my doubts are beginning to rise.

A deep low cough jerks me out of my thoughts and I turn to Cody. He grins, then gestures behind me to the stairs. "Aren't you going to show me to my new room." He teases, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

I, however, am not amused.

Pushing him out of the way, I head to my car, resisting the urge to look back.

"Hey, where you going?"

I spin around so I'm facing him, and walk backwards. "I'm a waitress at Johnsons." With no further explanation, I hop in my car and reverse out of lawn, swiftly turning onto the road.

I turn on the radio as I drive and Nicki Minaj's new hit, "Starships," comes on.

Tapping my fingers on the wheel to the beat, I start to wonder what Catherine's problem is, as my mind goes to last night. She's the one who cheated on Cody and broke it up, and now she's going all apeshit when I pay the least amount of attention to her ex. Fuck, that girl's got problems.

In fact the worst thing is that she thinks she still has some sort of claim on Cody. I can always see it in her eyes whenever she looks at Cody. Like he's still her boyfriend. And whenever she tries to pull on the puppy dog eyes at him, it makes me want to claw her eyes out.

Too bad that I wouldn't get away with it.

When I stop at a red light, it hits me at how much everything's changed within a week. Cody being the main. If someone had told me exactly a week ago that in a few days I would see a completely different side to Cody and that he would be living with me, I would've laughed at their face.

Now, it's all too real to be fake.
