"Tell me!"
I exhale loudly. I'm in the cafeteria with Helen and right now I'm regretting not sitting on a more public table. "There's nothing else to tell you. You've taken all the answers out of me."
Helen groans. "Please! Anything else that isn't 'Cody Davenport is a jerk'!"
I roll my eyes and give her a are-you-serious look. "He is one though and last night he proved it."
"Yeah but the whole school knows that he's a asshole. No news there, sister. But did he say anything else. Kind or cocky?"
I sigh for what feels like the millionth time. "Why do you want to know so bad? I thought you hated his guts."
His eyes widen but she quickly covers them with her blond bangs. Too late. I caught her.
I narrow my eyes suspiciously at her. "What was that?"
She gives me a innocent look. "What was what?"
"You know what I'm talking about. Spill it!" I stare into her eyes intently, trying to get her to break.
At first she bites her lips nervously, trying to escape my gaze, but then she gives in, sighing in defeat. She holds her hands up in surrender. "Ok, Ok! I'll tell you. But stop looking at me like that!"
I give her a crooked grin and motion for her to continue. After a little cough and a nervous glance behind me, she continues. "Umm well there's no easier way to tell you this but... Cody's looking at you."
I stare at her in confusion. "So what if he looked at me? It's probably to make sure I don't spill the fact he's my stepbrother."
She frowns in irritation. "No! He's not just looking at you. He's been staring at you intently, to be honest it's a little creepy." When I just raise my eyebrows, she sighs. "Turn around and look for yourself." She gestures behind me and mumbles under her breath. "He probably has a soft spot for girl's hair, with the way he was looking at yours."
I beam at her before turning around. Leave it to Helen to make such remark. I sweep my eyes around the student body, looking for his hot sexy surfur-like hair. Ironically, my eyes land on his bright blue eyes first, the ones that are staring at mine as if he's searching for something. I narrow my eyes back at him; what is he trying to find in me?
After a while, his intense stare softens and he smirks at me, sending a small wave.
I just sneer at him in response.
Not at all affected by my expression, he nods to Helen and mouths 'She's hot'. I quickly whip my head to check if Helen caught on any of that; she didn't. Her head's downcast as she holds her phone in her hand, no doubt texting Arianna, who has a doctors appointment.
I turn my head back to Cody and smirk at him. His cocky stance drops a little as he stares at me in confusion, but he immediately recovers, winking at me. My smirk grows as his eyebrows raise a little. He has no idea who Helen is, otherwise he would not have said that. Helen's a vicious person and even that's an understatement. Any boy that even tries to chat her up, regrets it the most at the end. Of course the main reason she's like that isn't because she's a prude, but it's because she's extremely dedicated to her 3 year boyfriend, Dan. They've both told me that they love each other, yet neither has had the guts to say it in front of the other. But even if she were single, there would be no absolute way that she would go for a player, especially a player that's about to be my stepbrother.
I realise a little too late that I'm staring at him while grinning wickedly, so I turn around quickly, blushing furiously.
Just then the bell goes, and I sigh in relief.
