War never changes... a saying as old as time. It only is half true however. Warfare always changes with the advancements in technology, tactics, and human nature. The motives of warfare might not ever change, but the means of warfare is fated to always change. Sometimes, for a new beginning to happen, you must destroy the old system first.

North East Lagoon, Bikini Atoll, Pacific Ocean

A figure is standing on one of the battleships watching over the rest of the ships being maneuvered around the lagoon. A US Navy captain is climbing up on of the step railings and looks over to the person in question, the captain immediately asks, "So, we're ready for the next test. This time an underwater one."

The figure looks back towards the captain, slight burn marks across the right portion of his face and responds, "One wasn't enough? Your reporters disappointed they couldn't sink us the first time?"

There is an awkward silence, before he continues speaking, "Regardless, I am disappointed in the presidency to have resulted to something like this, to such a weapon of mass destruction."

The captain replies to the figure, "If we had done a land invasion, over a million on both sides would be dead, and we'd hav..."

The captain is interrupted by the person, "And does that make things any better? How many do you believe will end up dying to these weapons? How many will end up just gone, how many towns and cities will be destroyed?"

The captain is uncertain how to answer the battleship, looking at him still. The battleship starts talking again. "And now the Russians know we possess this kind of weapon, how long do you think it'll be before they replicate it? 10 years? 5? Are they wanting to start a damn arms race?"

The captain processes what the battleship says and asks him a question, "Are... you angry at command?"

The battleship scoffs and looks towards the captain, red eyes full of anger and replies, "Being angry at just command is putting it lightly. I am angry at everything this world has done and offered. I served for 30 years under the command of many different officers."

"And only now, I see that war is pointless. And in the end, I along with all the ships here are being used to test their weapon. Do you not think the first test hurt? These burns still sting even nearly a month after the Able test. That should obviously imply how fucking angry I am, sir."

The battleship replied with a lot of sarcasm on the sir bit earning a bit of an annoyed look from the captain who sighed. He looked at the battleship and suggested something.

"Well, there's not much I can do at this point, your ship already went through the first test, and the reporters want a show. We have a few minutes until the Baker test. How about talking to the other ships, they might be able to cheer you up?"

The figure gives an are you serious look to the captain and answers him, "Do you really think that all these ships, that now know they're about to die, are gonna be able to cheer me up? You seriously think that?"
