Taki stood in front of the tree, tears in his eyes, sobbing at a time, his only companions being the chirping of birds and the droning sounds of the occasional cleaning robot passing by.
Looking up he saw his beloved frisbee perched within the covers of the tree.He was afraid of climbing up. His best friend broke his arm after climbing one; he could remember seeing the white spike poke out of his skin.
But he really wanted his toy, but he didn't want to hurt himself. So he cried some more. No one seemed to notice his plight, all focused on themselves, others noticing but deciding to mind their business.
Until an older boy walked up to him. He asked him, 'What's wrong, little man? Why are you crying?'
Within sobs Taki replied. 'B-B-Because, my f-frisbee is on the tree again! I-I-I always have, my-my friend, t-to help me when, when it happens, but h-he, h-h-hurt himself so, b-bad, so I-I'm afraid, it'll h-happen to me!'
'Oh shoot. Well don't worry little man, I'll get it for you. Sit tight,' said the older boy as he stretched his arms.
And a split-second later he floated up the tree.Getting it was a piece of cake for the older boy, and he dropped to the ground, frisbee in hand.
'Here you go kid. Next time you play with your frisbee be careful where you aim. You understand that right?'
'Yes sir.'
'Be careful ok? And I wish your friend a full recovery,' The older kid said, ruffling the boy's hair.
'Hey sir,' Taki stopped the guy. 'W-What level are you? When you floated up there, you must be an Esper aren't you? I mean, I'm just a nobody, a Level 0. Why would you waste your time helping me out?'
'Why not? Should there be a reason as to me helping you out kid?'
'What?'
'I saw someone in need of help. As far as I can tell, I didn't waste my time at all if someone is happy at the end of the day,' he said matter-of-factly.
'Huh... You're weird.'
'Ouch, that hurt,' the teen whined in a mock-pained voice causing Taki to giggle. 'See you around kid. And stay out of trouble.'
'Sure thing mister... I never got your name.'
'The names K-'
'Kamijou-chan!' His eyes opened up, before zeroing his gaze towards the pouting child who was his teacher.
Despite her looks Tsukuyomi Komoe was perhaps the oldest one within the classroom.
'Kamijou-chan what are you doing, dozing off? Have you been paying attention!?'
'Um, yeah sensei, just, continue on. I was listening.'
'Sounds to me you find my lectures boring. Please Kamijou, you're already starting to flunk on your classes, and you haven't passed your assignments to me.'
'Sorry Teach, I've had a lot on my mind, lots of things to think about, bills to pay, groceries to do.'
'1. The city doesn't allow students to pay bills, because most of the electricity is acquired by the thousands of wind turbines placed all across the city.
And 2. That is just an excuse, I mean you should've been more responsible with your time. They all don't explain your sudden radio silence for the past 2 months.'
'Well-'
'I don't want to hear it Kamijou. You've only till next week to complete your assignments, and if you still haven't sent them you'll face immediate expulsion at this point...'
