Since we hunted, we decided we wouldn't let the animals go to waste, so we cooked them over the fire as a meal.

We ate up, washed off and made Miles go out looking for a bit more of that medicine for my stitches. When he returned, he asked if I needed help to apply it and at first I said 'no', but he insisted on taking care of me, so I just said 'sure why not'.

"Ouch!" I hit Quaritch in the arm for putting the medication on my leg without a warning. "Sorry." He apologized. He spread more of the leaf's ointment on it before putting the other plant's materials on.

"I think you should be wrapping that up." He suggested to me. "What would I even use? I'm not scavenging around for more shit. I'm tired, I haven't slept in almost 3 days." I groaned, slapping the palms of my hands against my eyes, begging to rub them. "Then get some rest, I'll figure something out." He proposed, finishing up on my injury.

"This is all stone. How did you even sleep in here last night?" I complained even more, noticeably irritating the man in front of me. He started to get back up on his feet, "You really like to nag a lot, don't you, princess?" I roll my eyes at the nickname per usual, looking around for a comfy spot to sleep in.

"But I didn't really sleep last night either." He left the cave, knowing that he'd be looking for something to put around my leg. I just laid down on the opposite side where my wound was, stretching my arm out to lay on it as a pillow of some sort. My eyes grew heavy, and I felt myself immediately crash.

Miles' POV•
I was searching around for some kind of source to wrap Y/n's leg, but I couldn't find anything. I was knew to this whole forest thing, so I didn't know exactly what I needed to look for or what to grab.

But when walking back to our shelter, an idea popped up in my mind, knowing I could use my shirt that was back at the cave. I rushed back, knowing I already washed it last night in the pond, so it was clean and we didn't have to worry about the injury getting infected or anything like that.

I grabbed the shirt, ripping part of it off so It was easier to wrap around her leg. "I've got an idea." I was about to go on, but when I looked over at Y/n, she was fast asleep. I felt my face relax, feeling not as tense as I approached her unconscious body. I took the ripped shirt, sliding it under her hurt thigh and looped it around a couple times, then tying a knot to keep it in place.

A soft muffled sound came out of her mouth as she woke up, stretching her arms out. "Go back to sleep." I stated, going next to where she was.

For the next 15 minutes I just laid there, on my back, head rested against both of my arms, just staring at the ceiling of the cave. I paid close attention to the smallest details, scanning the rocks, looking at the slightest scratches or imprints on them.

"Thank you for helping me." I heard
Y/n whisper, but loud enough for me to hear. I expected her to be asleep by now, but I was wrong. "Don't thank me." I yawned, shutting my eyes. "Can I tell you something without you overreacting?" She carries on, leaving me to think. Y/n was obviously exhausted and when you're tired, you tend to say a lot of shit. "Sure." I kept my eyes closed and still listening to what she had to say.

"I had a lot of fun today. Usually when I teach people new things which is rare, they don't listen, so it was nice to explain things to you." She admits in a low tone. My eyes open up, the corners of my mouth slightly curling upwards. "It was fun." I agreed, not knowing what else to add to that sentence.

Gusts of strong wind picked up, hitting the insides of the caves, starting to blow out the fire. The wind was chillier,  and we didn't really have any other resources for warmth besides the fire that was about ready to go out. I heard Y/n shutter and I sat myself up, while she was already doing that.

"It's cold." She pointed out the obvious. "Sure is." My eyes were heavy, struggling to keep them open. I wasn't going to fall asleep until I knew Y/n was, but there was no specific reason for it. I just wanted to make sure she's getting the rest she needs, but why do I even care?

She stretched her body out again, throwing her arms up in the air and making a little humming noise. With the smallest things she did, she made my chest feel like it was being tugged at, and I've never felt this way before. Y/n lifted her knees up to her chest, groaning out in pain when she moved her wounded leg, but still tucked her tail and arms around her own self.

After about 20 minutes or so of talking, we were back to laying down only about 2 to 3 feet apart from each other. Rain was starting to pour down outside, cooling the entire cave's temperature down tremendously and quickly. I peek over to take a small look at Y/n to see if she was sleeping, and she was facing me with her eyes closed, laying on her left arm.

As I was starting to let my exhaustion take over, I get interrupted yet again, but this time I was glad I got interrupted. I peel my eyelids open, feeling weight on top of me. Y/n was curled up right by my side, her head laying on my bare chest and one of her legs swung over me.

I was guessing it was just a natural instinct for her body to grab whoever due to the low temperatures. I didn't really mind it too much. It felt like my heart was jumping around again, my stomach doing weird flips, my mouth holding back a laugh and hiding a smile. I wasn't ever going to admit it, but having her this close was nice.

I fell asleep right away, getting the best rest I have in a while.

A/N - no smut YET guys, but it's coming soon to those who are excited for it! i was planning on doing it in this chapter, but Y/n needs to gain a little more trust from him before all that, so maybe next chapter or the other after that idk yet.
