Hello everyone! Apologies for the two year hiatus (yikes, that's long). A lot sure has happened but I have so many more ideas and storylines to develop, and I promise that I will (some day in the future) finish this story. It sure has dragged on a lot longer than I thought, hasn't it? Anyway, I'll quit wasting time and continue with the very delayed content. Enjoy! :)

It was an early Wednesday morning. One of the two days a week Everest was at school, and it was waffle day. These aren't that important, but I feel that you need to know that. Everest was catching up on her classwork at a cafeteria table when she heard someone whining. She turned her head to spot her friends heading to the table, Zuma complaining as they walked.

'What's the matter Zuma?' she asked, looking back at her quadratic formula.
'They don't have waffles. They'we meant to have waffles today.'
'They don't have the chef in today,' Chase added, as Zuma threw his bag on the table and everyone else sat down. 'So they'll only be selling the sandwiches at lunch as well.' Rocky rubbed Zuma's back.

'It's ok, we can go get some waffles at that new dessert parlour. I'm sure they sell waffles there.'
'That sounds like a great idea,' said Tracker. Skye smirked.
'Of course you'd say that,' she said as she nudged him. 'Cos a pretty Sweetie works there...'
Everyone laughed as Tracker spluttered for a response.

'Well,' he finally stated. 'She doesn't really come see us anyway with Penny and all that...'
'Are you sure about that?' asked Rex. 'Cos she seems to be walking this way...'

Tracker's face flushed red as Sweetie came over and took a spot between Skye and Everest.

'Hi, how's everyone doing? How are things?'

Everyone nodded while Zuma muttered about the lack of waffles on Waffle Wednesday
'Hey Sweetie?' asked Everest. 'How busy is the new parlour you work at?'
'Oh, Honey and Spice? It's pretty quiet at the moment, and people just get a table as they walk in. It isn't busy enough to book ahead.'
'Are you working tonight?'
'No, why?'
'Wanna join us at Honey and Spice at 4?'

Sweetie nodded with a smile as the bell rang. 'Love to!'

The first two lessons and break flew by. It was already geography, Everest's favourite subject. However, she noticed an empty chair where Penny would normally be.

'Hey,' she asked to the person behind her. 'Where's Penny?'
'You didn't hear? She left and transferred to another school.'

That was strange. But it was a break from awful people being bitches, right?

Wrong.

'Right class, we have a new student in our class today. This is Summer Astley.'
Everest and Summer locked eyes. What the hell was she doing here?

***

Honey and Spice looked like every generic diner, with its checkered flooring of black and white, with greyscale photos hanging on the cherry-red walls. Tables were covered with pale tablecloths and red seating, which was filling up with teenagers.

'Wow,' said Sweetie as she opened the doors. 'It's a lot busier than usual.'

Everest looked over at one of the long tables, where a girl who had been bothering her all through Geography. Summer. She noticed Everest staring and smiled. What was she smirking for?

'Everest?' Skye asked, sounding a bit concerned. 'Are you ok? Who is that girl?'
'Summer Astley.'
'OHHH,' Sweetie added, as if the pieces had come together. They sat down at the nearest available table and browsed through the menus.

'You know her?' asked Chase.
'I've heard of her. She's given Penny a bit of a hard time recently. What about you, Everest? I can tell that's a glare of someone you already know and hate.'
'Tell me about it,' added Rocky. 'The two wouldn't stop glaring in Geography today.'

'Sorry I'm late!' Everyone's eyes glanced at the door, where Marshall was pushing a little girl in a pram. 'Ashley was throwing her pacifiers everywhere, and I couldn't find any.'

Everyone cooed as Ashley gave a cute baby giggle, as if she knew how cheeky she'd been.

'Is everyone okay?' Marshall asked. 'What did I miss?'

Everest pointed discretely at the girl two tables away, to which Marshall shared the same frustrated look she had been wearing all afternoon.

'Okay sewiously guys, how do you know hew?'

Everest sighed. 'She bullied me at my old school because I'm in care. Then she talked a whole lot of crap about my birth mother Melissa.'
'And she was awful to you in general,' Marshall added.

A girl with blonde pigtails and a pleated skirt came over to the table. 'Hi guys, can I get you anything?'

'Abvhkvbde...'
Tracker laughed. 'You alright, Zuma?'

'Yeahhh, it's just that thewe's a lot of choices and I can't decide.'
'You stuck between anything in particular?' asked Rubble. Zuma responded by pointing at two images on the menu.
'How about you order one and I order the other? Then we can split it and we can have both!'
'Wubble, you'we a genius!'

Everyone else ordered their waffles and milkshakes, the waitress leaving a smile as she took the menus.

'Ashley, how on earth did you get so much ice cream in your hair?!'

Sweetie smiled as Ashley laughed again, putting her sticky hands back in her hair before Marshall could wipe them. She turned to see Everest a little downtrodden, like she had ever since she stepped in the diner.

'Hey Ev,' she asked. 'Wanna talk?' The two stepped outside as everyone else was preparing to leave.

'You ok? You seem a little more on edge today.'

Everest gave a heavy sigh again.

'It's just that ... she talked about how easy it was for Melissa to get pregnant and have kids, only for them to be taken away. She said...I would go through the same...and...well...she seems right so far...'

Sweetie pulled her into a hug.

'You know, you are one of the best parents I've ever seen. There is no way that they will get taken off you. Not with the amount of effort you put in to looking after Ashley. Besides, nobody would ever let that happen. Especially Marshall.'

'Thanks Sweetie, I really needed to hear that.'
'No problem. Now let's meet up with the others before Marshall thinks I've kept you all to myself.'

The two girls laughed as they met with the others by the door. Marshall went over and held Everest's hand.

'You okay?'
'Yeah.' She gave Marshall a peck on the cheek.

'Guys,' joked Zuma as he covered Ashley's eyes. 'Not in fwont of the childwen.'

Things are going to get interesting now, huh? Apologies for the long hiatus, but now I'm back baby! At least until my exams start, but that won't be for a fair while now, and will definitely not turn into a two-year hiatus. Hope y'all enjoyed, and I will try be a little more consistent with my uploads.

Appledashian out!
