The bell rang for lunch. Rocky was the last out of the classroom, after having a conversation with one of the teachers, Miss. Katie. He then looked for somewhere to eat where nobody else was. The cafeteria was full, and so was outside of school. Rocky stood aimlessly in the corridor, wondering about the risk of being sociable, when he heard music. Beautiful piano music that drifted from the door of the music rooms. The music rooms! He could practice playing his guitar. But first he had to find out who was making that music. He gently turned his head around the corner.

'Mind if I come in?'

'Not at all Rocky,' said the black haired boy.

'You're in my maths class, right?'

'Yep. I'm Marshall.'

'Please keep playing, you're really good,' said Rocky as Marshall slowed down. Instead, Marshall started to play the melody to a song the grey haired boy knew oh too well. So he began to sing.

(This is Dancing on My Own by Calum Scott)

Somebody said you got a new friend
But does she love you better than I can?
And there's a big black sky over my town
I know where you're at I bet she's around

And yeah I know it's stupid
But I just gotta see it for myself

I'm in the corner
Watching you kiss her
Oh oh oh
And I'm right over here
Why can't you see me?
Oh oh oh
And I'm givin' it my all
But I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
I keep dancing on my own

I just wanna dance all night
I'm all messed up, I'm so out of line
Stilettos on broken bottles
I'm spinning around in circles

And I'm in the corner
Watching you kiss her
Ooh
And I'm right over here
Why can't you see me?
Ooh
And I'm giving it my all
But I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
And I keep dancing on my own
And oh, no

So far away
But still so near
The lights come on
The music dies
But you don't see me standing here
I just came to say goodbye

I'm in the corner
Watching you kiss her
Oh oh oh
And I'm giving it my all
But I'm not the guy you're taking home
Oh oh oh
And I keep dancing on my own
And no, no

Said, I'm in the corner
Watching you kiss her
Oh, no
And I'm right over here
Why can't you see me?
Oh, no
And I'm giving it my all
But I'm not the guy you're taking home, ooh
And I keep dancing on my own

So far away
But still so near
The lights come on
The music dies
But you don't see me standing here

There was a large applaud, and Rocky went red as he turned and saw Zuma, the boy he met earlier, leaning against the piano. Behind him was a girl with blonde hair and a boy with brown hair (Chase and Skye.)

'Nice pipes!' said Zuma with a grin on his face. 'And you wewe gweat too...'

'Marshall.'

'Mawshall. Those wewe some skills dude.'

'It was...mainly Marshall really...' muttered the grey haired boy, now a bright shade of red.

Rubble ran in, with a bacon sandwich and an apple.

'There you are, I've been looking everywhere for you...'

'Where's Everest?' asked Marshall, probably a little too hopefully. 'Was she with you?'

'She managed to get into a detention. But she asked if we would all like to meet up at the karaoke bar tonight after school.'

Chase, Marshall, Rubble and Zuma nodded. Rocky just decided to sit in the corner and hoped the question would just go away, and not linger in the air. He thought everyone wouldn't say anything. But Zuma was in the room, so that was not going to happen.

'What about you Rocky? You have great vocals.'

'No thanks. I have....revision.'

'You don't need to revise. What you should do is come have some fun.'

'It's not my thing. I prefer to..

'Stay at home and avoid humanity. I get it. You know, if there was a global pandemic, you would be absolutely fine...'

The others was just watching, eating their lunch. What else could they do?

'Alright, I'll come, but only to stop your nonstop sarcasm.'

Everyone else laughed.

'Are you guys brothers or something?' asked Chase.

'Surprisingly, we only just met this morning...'

'It's a funny story; I found Rocky in a dumpster...' Zuma started, but Rocky put his hand over his mouth.

'They don't need to hear that.'

'Yeah, Zuma. Just wait until we have popcorn' added Marshall. Everyone laughed again.

'It's funny, I never really had many proper friends before' said Chase. Everyone else nodded in agreement.

'I guess we've got our friend group sorted.' stated Rubble.

'So... the karaoke bar at 7? That's when me and Ev are going' asked Skye.

'Sure'

'Sounds great'

'I'd have to check, but most likely'

'I've got nothing else to do'

'...Maybe'

'Well, that settles it. Now lets eat some lunch and start playing music or we'll all get kicked out', said Skye, getting another chuckle from everyone.
