Ariana's POV
Stupid Triton. He was supposed to tell Kaldur I was awake ages ago, and still hasn't. I guess I'm going to him in person, even though I have no idea where he is because my father asked him to monitor Arthur, and he still hasn't returned. I tried singing my ethereal tune, a long-range communication we devised when he was sent back to Atlantis for his vacations. Training with me was an all-year venture, and he got to go home for a month before he returned. How could I forget putting the trout under my stepmom's pillow when we were six? I missed him. I decided to visit. I kissed Jack goodbye and punched Percy, who didn't want me running off alone when Nico tried to kill me, but he had no choice but to let me step through my portal. First stop, Atlantis.
Kaldur's POV
We were sitting in a meeting about our secret identities and keeping them a secret, because so of the other members of young justice had some close calls. I was too busy thinking about my own sucky life to pay any attention
"Masks are the spearhe-" All the fluid in the room moved toward one spot. Superman, who tried to do something was cut off by the rippling orb of water forming from our stolen beverages behind me. A girl stepped through. Ariana stepped through.
"Hey, Ariana," I said, and turned back around. My brain then processed what I just saw and I shot upward and around again "ARIANA?" I crashed into her as she crashed into me. We separated
"Three years and nothing. THREE YEARS, ARIANA!" I said
"Hey Kal. how are you doing?" she said
"Freedom of speech?" I whispered. She nodded "You F****** idiot! I get nothing for THREE YEARS and now you just f****** show up and say "hey" like we haven't seen each other for three hours when it's been THREE F****** years?" the rest of the two teams looks shocked. I never curse.
"Yep. And my life has been pretty hectic too." she started whispering "Do they know?" I shook my head. "Is there a place where we can talk in private?" She continued whispering. I nodded.
"Kaldur, who is she?" Batman asked.
"Someone from my past," I said. Robin rolled his eyes.
"If you're wondering, I have no idea who the heck any of you are," Ariana said. Classic Ariana. I rolled my eyes.
"How do you not know who any of us are?" everyone asked
"Because I just don't know" She turned to me "Does everyone assume I know everything?" I shrugged. "Kal, I sang my ethereal tune like four times. Why didn't you answer?"
"I didn't know you sang- the ocean. It must have sounded like the ocean was singing" I realized. "F***! I didn't know that was you."
"We came up with that when we were five, Kal. How did you forget?" She said. Diana realized who she was and I gave her a slight shake of my head. Now was not the time for formalities. Arthur was going to be bad enough. "If it's a bad time, I can leave" Ariana shrugged. everyone except me nodded. "I'll be back in two hours" Ariana whispered, then re-opened her portal and walked through.
"Kaldur, who was that?" Superman asked
"Ariana Jackson. My oldest friend. We grew up together." I sat down again. Like this meeting was going to be normal after Ariana pops in for the first time in three years. Diana, who knows about the mythological world, gave me a knowing smile. My life was hard enough after the war.
I sat down with a book of poetry. Ariana was due to arrive in two minutes. true to her word, Ariana stepped through her portal exactly two hours after she left.
