Ariana's POV
I skipped into the hall, searching for the science classroom. Finding the door, I breathe a deep breath and open the door.
"Ah, yes. The new student!" the teacher said, turning away from the whiteboard "Can you please introduce yourself?"
"Γεια! με λένε αριάνα και μόλις μετακόμισα εδώ!" I smile
"Excuse me?" A student coughs
"Sorry! I reverted to Greek" I laugh "My name's Ariana, and I just moved here from Greece"
"That's interesting! I do believe there is an open spot next to Peter" They turn back to the board as I walk to find Peter. I spot the nametag before I see the person, and I sit down
Peter's POV
I jiggled my leg as I waited. The teacher said a new student would come today, so we had nametags too. The doorknob twisted, and a girl with black hair comes through. She smiles
"Γεια! με λένε αριάνα και μόλις μετακόμισα εδώ!" She says
"Excuse me?" I ask
"Sorry! I reverted to Greek" She laughs "My name's Ariana, and I just moved here from Greece!" I tune out for a bit, stirring up some web solution
"-An open spot next to Peter," The teacher says. I sit up rigidly, closing the drawer where the fluid was stored. She smiled as she took the second seat. Flash was eyeballing her-More likely her chest and her low-cut T-shirt. She grabbed a notebook from her bag and started writing notes-in Greek. Each letter was familiar but yet alien.
"δώστε προσοχή στις δικές σας σημειώσεις διαφορετικά οι άνθρωποι θα νομίζουν ότι απατάτε" She sang softly "pay attention to your own notes!"
"Sorry" I whispered
When lunch rolled around, I noticed a lot of people were staring at Ariana
"Hey dude! did you see the video?" Ned asks
"No," I say
"Here" He pulls it up. It's a music video, and at the centre is Ariana, singing her heart out. The dress she's wearing is revealing to the point that it's provocative and nothing more. The frame zooms out, and I see she's on a stage
"Give it up for Ms Jackson!" The video screams "On every night at 9 PM at Shaw's!", and it finishes as Ariana takes a bow.
"The whole school is buzzing about the fact the new student from Greece is already gaining praise in the public with her singing!" Ned adds
"She sits next to me in science," I say
"I'm going to get her to date me! I mean, who wouldn't?" Someone boasted. It was Nathaniel, the football captain. "She practically flirted with me all third period!" I gritted my teeth and said nothing. Taking a bite of my sandwich, I think about my last patrol.
"Μου αρέσει όταν με πληγώνεις δεν θέλω να το πω αλλά μου αρέσει όταν με πληγώνεις" Ariana hums as she sits a little bit further down the table. Nathaniel slides up next to her, grinning like a dog
"Hey, want to catch a movie with me tonight?" He purrs
"No thanks! I've already got a reservation" She smiles "γαμήστε λοιπόν" She snarls. He slides away like the weasel he is.
"I gotta learn Greek" he mutters, and I swear Ariana murmurs "Lazy asshat" under her breath
3rd POV
A man in a spider suit dropped into an alley, flinging webs at a criminal. As the person he saved thanked them, he didn't see the criminal vanish until he heard the scream. climbing to the rooftop, he saw a new person, dressed in all blue and purple, a mask pulled up over their mouth and nose. A pair of shimmering sea-green eyes met him, and he noticed the fact the person had grabbed the web holding the criminal and was now dangling them over the alley to the right.
"I'LL NEVER STEAL AGAIN! PLEASE, JUST LET ME GO!" The criminal sobbed. A foot from the ground, the new vigilante dropped them.
"Okay, I put in all the effort to get that guy and you came along and now he's running free" the man complained
"Hi Peter" the woman smiled
"Wha-How-" The man spluttered. The woman pulled down her mask "ARIANA?!"
"Hi Peter" She grinned, then walked up and pulled off his mask
"How did you know immediately?" He grumbled
"Voice and height" She shrugged "Now how about we work together?"
"You sure you can keep up?" Peter smiled
"Let's race, shall we?" Ariana smirked "First one to reach 43 Street wins" The rain starts with little droplets.
"Sure" Peter tugged his mask back on as Ariana digs her heels, getting ready to run
"GO!" Ariana shouted, and they took off. Peter expected to watch Ariana fall as she jumped from the roof, but she ran alongside him, each raindrop her own a tiny platform. Picking up speed, Ariana stopped at the intersection of 43 and 90, tapping her foot as Peter arrived, panting out puffs of warm air as the city got colder. "You lose"
"Huff-you-huff-cheated" Peter panted
"Aw, is Peter a sore loser?" Ariana teased "We could have just run like normal people, but where's the fun in that?"
