Plan Gone Wrong

Jason's POV;

My muscles stifened as Valerio's words sunk in. I wanted to shield Karen so bad... but that would probably just endanger her even more. He never knew I was here.

Leaves scatter by, she went for it. I felt like screaming as Karen landed.

''Ah, I see you've changed a little.'' he chuckles, ''It was that pitty excuse of an angel huh? Jason?''

Fire burned in my eyes.

''I'm the one who should be asking the questions here.'' Karen came closer to him.

Valerio came up to her, wrist grabed tight and said, ''Litsen here, you might be an angel but this won't stop me. You will never speak the truth without me being involved.''

Then he tackles her into the tree. A wimper fills the hollow wind.

Where is Aaron when you need him? My mind raced. What hapened to the plan? Ugh.

''Let her go.'' I fly out and land a few feet away from them.

''Well, well, well I think we have company.'' he smiles without turning around.

''Jason... No!'' Karen was fighting back but Valerio was too strong. A little too strong.

I grabed his shoulder but he was too quick and twisted my whole arm.

''No one said angels can't feel pain..'' Valerio's eyes turned darker. He took out a knife and a sinister look were in his eyes. The knife was in the other direction, pointed at Katt. Valerio let me go and went for her, my chest hurt of the thought even if I knew she's going to survive.

In one quick move I grab the knife and throw it landing pin-point on a tree. Ninja style. Then I tackle him into a tree next to Karen, ''What do you want from her?!''

He looks at me dead in the eyes, ''I wan't her dead, just like Aaron, but that plan is a little ruined now isnt it?'' Valerio looks at Karen, ''No one can know a word, but if you do manage to tell i'll make you pay. That's a promise, not a threat.''

Valerio then draws a few chinese symbols in the sand in front of Karen. Her eyes grew wide while Valerio pushes me on the ground. I get Karen next to me and put a hand around her waist.

We watch Valerio walk off without taking the knife. The last thing he said were to 'remember those words'.

After he leaves I ask, ''What does the chinese mean?''

''You must pay.'' Karen wispered, voice shaking with tears in her eyes.

I can only do one thing. Hug her. Sure it wasn't much, but i'm not going to try and kiss her again. I put my thoughts aside.

''I-I'm sorry.'' she mumbles face close to my chest.

''What are you sorry for?'' I sigh, ''He knew you were here anyways.''

She nods, not knowing what to say.

I let her go, ''Lets go find Aaron and the others.''

She nods again, ''Where have they been anyways?''

I shrug and we walk to her house exhausted.
