after school

"GOD finally!" sunoo groaned. "the class felt even more boring than usual." he added on.

the four were walking out of dance class, looking for the rest of their group.

"it wasn't that bad, you were just lazy. nothing new though" niki said back. sunoo gasped giving him a dirty look.

"how dare you disrespect me! because of that, you're buying your own ice cream" sunoo argued back.

niki gasped dramatically. "i'm kidding sunooie~ you know you are my favorite out of the rest of these losers!" sunjin and jungwon glared at him. "expect sunni of course, you and her are the only expectations!" he nodded his head proudly.

"what the heck? what about me?" jungwon was hurt by the boy who he thought was pretty close too.

the three kept nagging at each other. when were they not, thought sunjin, but she was distracted. her mind kept going to sunwoo. he looked good even if he was just standing there. the wink he gave her made her feel hard butterflies. how weak sunjin felt.

it didn't take long before they found the older boys at their usual spot. they greeted each other before walking out of the school together. it was almost like a daily thing. they were always together no matter what.

sunjin enjoyed being out with them instead of being home. after her brothers moved, she felt lonely. they would usually visit when they had time but she understood when they couldn't. it made it harder though. she loved her parents, especially her dad but she had a hard relationship with her mom.

she caused her so much pain, she had to start taking therapy. sunjin would just avoid going home by going out with the boys or to their house. luckily the boys parents adored her so much, possibly more than their son's. then she would get home around 8 and just go to her room.

it's how sunjin's life was and she liked it, but now a new character inserted himself.

"SUNJIN!" a loud voice screamed her name.

sunjin stopped walking and looked behind her. it wasn't long before her eyes focused on the running boy towards her. sunwoo.

her heart began to race. he looked pretty.

sunwoo slowed down as he got closer. panting a little, he stood in front of her. "hi" he smiled at her.

she couldn't help but smile back. "hi.. what's up?" sunjin questioned the boy.

"what are you doing right now?" sunwoo asked. this caught sunjin by surprise.

"oh- um i'm hanging out with my friends.. why?" did he need something, she questioned in her head.

"ah never mind, i don't want to bother you anymore" he smiled, his eyes glancing behind her. "now go, before your friends kill me" he gave a small push towards them before walking away.

he wasn't lying, the thing is, only one boy was glaring at him so hard, it kind of scared him.

sunjin could see him going towards the same friend group from earlier. she ignored the feeling of disappointment and went back to the boys.

"what did he want?" heeseung asked throwing his arm around her. she just nodded her 'no' indicating she didn't want to talk about it.

"i love ice cream"

"we know sunni, you always mention it"

"just wanted you to know again"

they were all at the park, eating their ice cream while the ones who finished were playing soccer.

sunjin had her head on jay's lap while wearing his shades because the sun was too bright. sunoo was taking pictures of his friends, himself, and everything around him.

the rest of the boys were playing soccer. it was jake and niki against heeseung, jungwon, and sunghoon.

the two boys bragged about how good they were so they didn't need a third member. it was funny because they were losing.

sunjin loved this. she loved being surrounded by her friends and ice cream. oh how she loved ice cream.

"sunni" a voice said above her.

sunjin simply looked up at jay. "jayjay"

jay smiled. "what's up with the new kid?"

sunjin furrowed her eyebrows. "what do you mean?" she was confused by his question.

"i mean like, you and him? you seem pretty close already" jay said.

sunjin thought for a bit. "i don't think we're close. more like i just showed him around?" even she was confused at her answer.

jay scoffed. he didn't like her answer. he knows her better than anyone, apart from jungwon.

"you sure? because it seems to me the kid has interest in you." jay played with her hair. "you're allowed to date anyone you want of course, but please be careful sunni"

sunjin didn't know how to respond but she gave him a smile before holding his hand that was playing with her hair.

the clouds slowly began to cover the sky, making the brightness of the sun go down. sunjin gave the glasses back to jay, so he could take a nap.

they switched spots, him now laying on her lap. sunjin began to play with his hair as her eyes wandered.

some kids played at the playground, screaming while the parents talked and watched their kids. sunjin smiled fondly.

seeing a little girl cry while running to the arms of her mother who welcomed her with open arms. giving her small kisses on her head and patting her cheeks. sunjin looked away, feeling her heart squeeze a bit.

her eyes wandered to the boys playing. she watched them run and yell at each other to get the ball. slowly, she gazed at them all before her eyes landed on jungwon, who was playing goalie.

sunjin stared at him. she wondered how he got to be so pretty, his big eyes that would squint when smiling or laughing so hard. his face that matured over the years, jawline becoming sharp. and her favorite thing. his dimple. how deep and poke-able it was.

jungwon felt someone stare at him. he didn't want to look, too focused on the game but he did it anyway. his eyes locked with sunjin.

though, it caught him by surprise, he continued to hold the eye contact. so did she.

no one backing down. it began to grow intense between them. they might have had distance with each other yet it still felt like they were suffocating.

too caught up in their own world, a ball smacked against a face, loudly.
