Mobei Jun was attending a meeting that covered multiple distressing topics. Luo Binghe was also present, he sat at the head of the table while Mobei Jun sat on his Right and Sha Hualing on his left. Poor old airplane bro was left standing next to his king, he didn't like being in the presence of so many demons that sneered every time he passed by them. The brunette was surprised at how organized the meeting was, a few important officials were sitting at the table as well. There was a demon sitting in the corner of the room...taking notes? Shang Qinghua was dumbfounded at how boringly well-organized all of this was, he swore to never let any demon in the conference room on Cang Qiong mountain lest they be mocked for their chaotic habits. However, the only reason for the sect's pandemonium called a meeting was for the mutual trust they had for each other. All the peak lords considered each other siblings even if it didn't look that way from the outside.
- "Your Highness, I do not wish to question your judgment, but is it truly wise to let a human into our conference?" He glared at Shang Qinghua, making him hunch over in fear. He couldn't help but look away.
Damn you. Why the hell would I ever betray my king? He's too terrifying ... and handsome to betray.
His thinking was slightly biased but what harm could it do to appreciate another man's beauty? Shang Qinghua half expected to get thrown out, he knew Mobei Jun didn't trust him even if he would never leave. He knew what he'd been through and wasn't about to blame him for it.
- "This human is more loyal than any of you will ever be." The ice king spat. Everyone in the room was surprised by the answer, especially Shang Qinghua. Luo Binghe gave the man a knowing glance before telling him he trusted him and his judgment. The brunette felt his cheeks burn.
Did Mobei Jun believe what he had said?
The meeting continued for another hour and Shang Qinghua's feet began hurting. Why didn't he get to sit in a chair like everyone else?!? He was so tired from merely listening to their conversations, this was unbelievably boring. He was letting his head fall forward in fatigue. Mobei Jun seemed to notice because he gave him a nudge with his elbow and Shang Qinghua stoop up as straight as a pillar.
Shit, I hope he doesn't get mad about that.
The brunette shivered at the thought. He really didn't want to be choked half to death again. The king of the North gave a small smile at how tense his servant was acting. It was cute. But he stopped himself at that thought.
Cute? Him? Of course not. He wouldn't ever think him cute.
He sighed and glanced back at Shang Qinghua whose eyes were half-lidded.
Was he that tired?
Mobei Jun had to ponder on it before deciding to do something about it. He took hold of the smaller man's wrist and pulled him onto his lap. Shang Qinghua had been too tired to react and simply leaned into the cold demon's chest. The king felt blood rush up to his face at how comfortable the brunette was in his arms.
Did Shang Qinghua trust him?
He didn't know why but it meant a lot to him. Shang Qinghua trusted him enough to fall asleep on his lap, in his presence. He cradled his newfound joy until the meeting was over. He didn't have it in him to wake the small man up, so he decided on carrying the cultivator bridal style back to his place in the North. However, Luo Binghe stopped him before he left the room.
- "This man is important to shizun. Take good care of him."
Mobei Jun simply nodded before leaving.
When Shang Qinghua woke up again, he was in his bed, back at Mobei Jun's palace. When he recalled how he got here his face flushed a deep shade of pink. He remembered the officials talking about a demon clan that had been causing some trouble, but after that, he stopped paying attention.
Meanwhile, Mobei Jun was sitting in his throne room. Why had he done such a thing? For a mere servant at that. Was he really so desperate for attention that he would seek it from a cultivator?
The answer was "yes", he didn't have the energy to fight off all the thoughts he had of the smaller man. His messy habits, the nervous look on his face when Mobei Jun scolded him, and the way he smiled when he was reading books with rather questionable titles. He chuckled to himself.
What have you done to me Shang Qinghua?
Perhaps this once he could have something he wanted. But the fear of losing something dear was still there, haunting him everywhere he went. It drove him to insanity sometimes, the feeling of inferiority, of not being good enough for someone to stay by his side. Shang Qinghua always came back though, so he would put his uneasy mind to rest for the time being. Shang Qinghua had saved his life multiple times, he couldn't just up and leave after everything.
Mobei Jun considered the idea of consulting Luo Binghe on the matter, after all, the man did manage to somehow swoon his stone-cold shizun. Perhaps he could give him advice on how to please Shang Qinghua. On second thought, it might be best to consult Shen Qingqiu instead, he was the brunette's friend in the end. He should know best.
Yes, he would do that.
He traveled to Qing Jing peak in a very short period. And there he found Luo Binghe clinging to his Shizun in a very uncharacteristic way, he truly couldn't imagine the fierce demon lord of the south whom everyone feared to have this side to himself. It was rather amusing.
- "My lord."
Both men abruptly turned around to the source of the voice, Luo Binghe glared at the demon.
- "What brings you to this humble one's abode at this hour?" Shen Qingqiu greeted courteously.
- "I seek your advice honorable Xiu Ya sword."
