Shen Qingqiu had checked on his friend every day since he arrived passed out in the arms of the northern king. In fact, he had just returned from Qian Cao peak. The peak Lord was crossing the rainbow bridge that connected all of Cang Qiong mountain sect, he dragged his feet along the clear bridge, his hands behind his back. He passed by a few disciples who seemed to be talking rather passionately about something. Shen Yuan was about to brush it off as harmless teenage gossip but when he heard the subject of the conversation his eye twitched.

"Do you really think the An ding peak Lord betrayed the sect?"

One of them whispered, of course, it was a Bai Zhan peak disciple, and an outer one at that. Shen Qingqiu snapped his can open and clicked his tongue at the sheer audacity of these teenagers. Weren't children in ancient times supposed to be well-behaved and poised? The peak Lord was truly disappointed and angry that they were talking shit about his good friend behind his back.

"He probably thought he would become more powerful by following a demon king."

Another boy snickered. That was the last straw for Shen Qingqiu, he didn't understand what came over him. Why was he so intent on defending Shang Qinghua?

He closed his fan and did a full one-eighty. He had walked passed them but cultivation enhanced his senses so even if he had almost crossed the bridge he could still hear them. He stood tall and menacingly behind one of the students.

"It is highly inappropriate to speak of one's martial uncle in such a disgraceful way. Especially when one is not aware of the true situation."

Shen Qingqiu spat his word out, glaring at the poor fools before him. A sense of satisfaction overcame him when he saw them tremble in fear.

"This humble one sincerely apologizes, we were crossing the line. Such a thing won't happen again."

The disciple mumbled. It was well known by now that the peak Lord of Qing Jing was in a relationship with the almighty demon king Luo Binghe. So when it came to demons, he probably knew best.

"It better not, your martial uncle is severely injured and could have been killed, and yet here you are, gossiping about the poor man. Truly disappointing."

I wanna punch this bitch in the face, he deserves that much.

"This humble one was not aware of the situation, w-we won't step out of line again."

Shen Qingqiu only grunted in response before leaving. He was sure he would have punched the boy had he stayed any longer. He still didn't understand his fury, Shang Qinghua was his good friend, yes, but it wasn't like they were best friends or anything. However, When the peak Lord thought about all the stupid shit try had done together he wondered if perhaps he was wrong. He remembered all the times he found himself complaining about the lack of internet, or how the system would nag him all the time. Perhaps he was his best friend...

He arrived at Qing Jing peak a frown still etched on his face. He entered his bamboo house stomping his feet before kicking his boots off and throwing himself on the bed. He hadn't even noticed Luo Binghe who was sitting at the table in the center of the room, doing his paperwork like Shen Yuan had instructed him to. The half-demon had been clinging to his lover like chewing gum in hair, not willing to leave his side. Shen Qingqiu who was running late for a meeting had told him that if he attended to his kingly responsibilities then he would be rewarded.

"Shizun looks upset, did something happen?"

The man only hummed before turning his back to his former disciple. He knew he didn't deserve to be treated that way but he was in a terrible mood at the moment and he really needed a way to let out his frustration. Luo Binghe had a hurt look on his face as he sat down on the bed making the mattress sink with his weight.
