Shang Qinghua thought his king was acting weird recently. Although he found the demon's behavior odd, so long as he wasn't getting yelled at it was fine. He did find himself spending a lot of time alone, however. He used to accompany Mobei Jun almost everywhere he went but now it was almost like the king was avoiding him. Well, he supposed he had it coming considering he had also been avoiding the king, but that didn't stop it from bothering him. Yet Shang Qinghua had a valid reason to be staying away from the ice king, he simply didn't want to get hurt. The cultivator hadn't been doing much these past few days, he was currently sitting on the grass, legs folded, admiring the scenery before him. It was a real shame that he never had the opportunity to take in the beauty of Cang Qiong mountain. He had two days to deal with some internal issues in An Ding peak but those had all been resolved so Shang Qinghua took the time to bask in the sunlight. The trees swayed in the winds as light shown through the leaves giving the atmosphere a warm glow. That's when a thought crossed his mind. He wanted Mobei Jun to see this, to see the beauty his sect had to offer. Unfortunately, he would never be able to show his king any of this.
He sighed, getting up from his spot on the ground, dragging his feet across the ground and towards his house. He would fly back North later today.
His peace of mind was short-lived, but that's what made it all the more enjoyable. The rarer something is, the more satisfaction one has in owning it. Well, Shang Qinghua didn't exactly own peace, but he did own that one moment where he didn't have to worry about anything, and he would cherish it.
He returned to the snow-covered land, and the wind howled. The cold bit at his exposed skin, making a mess of his hair. The desert was... well... deserted, it was thick, untouched snow as far as the eye could see. The sight was quite sad considering Shang Qinghua had just come back from the lush forest atop An Ding peak. He already missed the warm embrace of the sunlight. He was not motivated to return to the cold, empty palace in the middle of nowhere. He sighed as the towers of Mobei Jun's abode appeared in his field of vision. It was merely a matter of moments before he reached the entrance. The tall doors loomed over him almost threateningly as he approached. The guard at the gate sneered and whispered to his colleague next to him. The two giggled like a bunch of gossiping high school girls. He lowered his head shyly, his heart hurt, the scene reminded him of his teenage years. The brunette shivered at the thought, he recalled how people would laugh as he passed by them, how they would actively avoid him when he reached out to them. He hated it. He hated the feeling of being shunned.
He ignored the guards as he walked past the entrance and towards his room. He picked up the pace in an almost jog as unpleasant thoughts filled his mind. Someone poured a bucket of water over his head. He scurried across the icy halls. Classmates pointed fingers at him and cackled. He sprinted. A group of boys dragged him behind the school and kicked him continuously. He was going as fast as his legs could carry, his eyes closed, fists clenched. He wanted to cry, but he couldn't let the past get the better of him. He began to slow down, and his breath came out in puffs as he struggled to regain his composure. He was still walking fast and happened to bump into someone.
Oh, come on! Why is it always me!?
Shang Qinghua was afraid to look up from the ground as he bowed deeply in apology. He really didn't want to see the look on whichever arrogant demon that was bumped into, but he had to know who it was.
Fuck me! Fuck this! I'm so done!
The cultivator would be sure to slap himself once he got a moment alone. The expensive fur boots with silver ornaments and chains embedded in them gave away who it was. The black fur coat and blue silk robes were unmistakable. He finally looked the man in the face, his handsome features always made his heart beat out of his chest. His smooth dark hair ran down his back like water that was always hard to find out in the frozen desert.
