Mobei Jun was crying, for the first time in his life, he was crying. He felt an overwhelming sense of guilt as he looked back on all the times he had been cruel to Shang Qinghua. His mind raced as he desperately tried to stop the cultivator's profuse bleeding. The wound was deep and the king would forever hate himself for not being more attentive, and for letting Shang Qinghua die right before him. He would regret his moment of hesitation when he watched as a sword flew towards the peak Lord for the rest of his life. He had to find a way to save the man who was losing an alarming amount of blood. Mobei Jun was holding the unconscious man in his arms when he remembered where he came from. Shang Qinghua was a peak Lord in the Cang Qiong sect. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, he took no time to open a portal and travel to the human realm. In the meantime, he summoned ice to cover Shang Qinghua's fatal wound. He had to stop the bleeding, and this was the only way he could think of, he was no medic after all. Mobei Jun was a violence-crazed, tyrannical king of the demon realm, never in his long life had he needed to save a person's life. But in this very moment, there was nothing that mattered more than saving his loyal servant's life. His heart was beating so fast it hurt, he felt nauseous at the thought of never hearing the cultivator's annoying voice ever again.
When he stepped on the other side of the portal, he found himself in front of Qiong Ding peak's conference hall. He knew coming here was a mistake, the place was crawling with demon-hating cultivators, but his mind was all over the place and all that he cared about at that moment was saving Shang Qinghua. Mobei Jun could feel the fearful stares of the peak disciples, but he chose to ignore them, and he walked forward. His tears had been wiped yet his expression was grim, he was sure the cultivators thought he wanted to murder someone, but the opposite was true. He walked up wide stairs and slammed the door open using Qi. Shang Qinghua lie unconscious in his arms, his limbs swaying with each step the king took. Mobei Jun took extra care in cradling the brunette's head.
It seemed Mobei Jun had interrupted a conversation between Liu Qingge, Yue Qingyuan, and Shen Qingqiu. He recognized one to be the relentless peak lord who tried to take Luo Binghe's lover's corpse back to Cang Qiong mountain, but to no avail. Though he had to admit, the peak lord was quite skilled with a sword. Another he knew better was Shen Qingqiu, Luo Binghe's lover, who was no longer a lifeless corpse. And the one standing in between the two peak lords was the sect leader. Liu Qingge's face turned red in fury as soon as he saw the demon, he was about to lunge forward, sword in hand when Yue Qingyuan stopped him.
"What brings the demon king of the north to the Heaven Sky sect on this lovely day?"
He smiled kindly which impressed Mobei Jun, he couldn't tell if the man was simply naïve or if he was just a wise man who didn't attack irrationally. He gave the impression of a clement immortal who cared for those both below and above him, who never said a mean word in his life.
At that very moment, however, Mobei Jun was stumped, what was he supposed to answer? He had his pride, and asking a cultivator for help was beneath him. He felt Shang Qinghua's weak pulse against his arm and that was the only push he needed.
"I will only say this once... I need you to save him... I don't care how you do it or how much you want in exchange. Just don't let him die... please."
Needless to say, all three peak lords were stunned, it was only now that they noticed that the person in Mobei Jun's arms was in fact Shang Qinghua.
"How do we know this isn't some demonic trick- "
"It's not." Shen Qingqiu interrupted Liu Qingge with a solemn expression.
"We do not need to be paid to help a martial brother. Take him to Mu-shidi." Yue Qingyuan said with a frown.
"Follow me, your highness."
Shen Qingqiu walked at a quick pace and Mobei Jun didn't hesitate to follow. They arrived at Qian Cao peak and entered a large building that was filled to the brim with different types of herbs, pills, and other medicine Mobei Jun failed to recognize.
"Mu-shidi, we have an emergency."
Shen Qingqiu declared, gaining the attention of a man in blue and grey robes who was sitting at a desk.
"Shen-shixiong? What is i-..."
He dropped a porcelain cup he was holding, and it shattered on the ground.
"Ah, my apologies I didn't know we had a guest, and... is that Shang-shidi?!
"Please refrain from asking too many questions, I just need you to save him."
Mobei Jun glared at the man who nodded and scurried along a corridor.
"Follow me."
They entered a small room with a clean bed on top of which Mobei Jun had set Shang Qinghua. Mu Qingfan inspected the man thoroughly before stating.
"His wound is very deep and will take time to recover, his pulse is weak, and he has lost a lot of blood, but it's nothing I can't heal."
I could have told him all that myself.
Although Mobei Jun was slightly annoyed he was still relieved to hear that Shang Qinghua wasn't going to die.
"If that is all I suggest his highness leaves for it is not in his best interest to stay here." The peak lord continued.
"I will stay here until Shang Qinghua wakes up."
Mobei Jun said firmly, and Mu Qingfan seemed to hesitate.
"I am sure his highness has a lot of work to be taken care of back in the demon realm, it is also best for Shang Qinghua not to get too agitated when he wakes up and I am afraid your presence might do just that."
Shen Qingqiu took over, his face cold and unchanging.
"We will be sure to contact you as soon as he recovers."
Mobei Jun wanted to refuse but one look at the disastrous state his servant was in, and he gave in. If it meant a quick recovery then he would do anything. It was that day Mobei Jun realized just how much he needed Shang Qinghua and if returning to the demon realm was truly in his best interest then so be it.
He simply hummed in acknowledgment before turning on his heel and opening another portal.
Mu Qingfan wiped his brow as soon as the king left.
"Remind me never to get on that man's bad side."
You think he's scary? Heh. Wait until you see OG Luo Binghe.
Shen Qingqiu held his fan up to his face andnodded.
