Shang Qinghua was surprised when Mobei Jun told him to return to Cang Along mountain. Usually, it was he who had to plead and beg to be allowed to return to the sect lest he arouses suspicion, but this time it was different. In fact, the demon Lord himself seemed like a completely different person, to him at least. When the king had summoned him to the throne room (Idk) he was sure this meant certain death and just as he expected, Mobei Jun was in a foul mood. He sat perched on his throne carved of ice, and although he rarely changed his expression much Shang Qinghua could see him glaring daggers at him. He was shaking from both the cold and fear. If looks could kill then the poor millennial would be long gone.
"Shang Qinghua" he spat his name as if it carried poison, his demonic qi slowly seeping from him as if to warn the peak, Lord. "I gave you the privilege of a day free of work only to find out that you dare to begin working again."

What? Was this a joke? Because if it weren't for his approaching doom he surely would have laughed. Was this the reason why Mobei Jun is upset? This is ridiculous. Shang Qinghua was quick to kowtow before the throne.
"This humble one apologizes for I was unaware I had been granted such a blessing. This lowly one would never dream of transgressing one of my king's orders." The king frowned as the words left his lips. The brunette found the way he spoke ridiculous, he would never use such elegant words in any other situation. Shang Qinghua was rather famous for his indecent language and speech, it wasn't like he was used to being so respectful to the point of degrading oneself, it was quite humiliating in fact. But the man didn't have much of a choice.
"You were unaware? Are you trying to blame me? Getting confident I see."
Mobei Jun sounded almost disgusted.
"N-no my king, that was never my intention, this poor one has made a bad choice of speech. This humble one will make sure it never happens again." The brunette was trembling from head to toe, he didn't want to die here. Perhaps it was the lingering dizziness from the day prior, but he swore he saw the demon smile, even if only for a moment. The king sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. Needless to say, the cultivator was even more terrified now.
"You are to return to your sect, if I find you have done any work I will personally come and wipe out all of your disciples. And I better not hear you using the excuse of being unaware this time." His voice was slightly gentler this time.

Was that all? Thank Binghe's heavenly pillar. (Idfk)

Mobei Jun watched as Shang Qinghua stood up, bowed low, and thanked him before he rapidly left. The pitter-patter of the cultivator's footsteps echoed throughout the tall, empty throne room and the king found himself sighing in remorse as the only thing that seemingly brought a smile to his face was long gone. He could only purse his lips as he glanced at the amount of work he had yet to finish.

A week passed, Shang Qinghua had yet to return, and Mobei Jun was getting impatient. He was lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, arms at his side. Usually, it was the brunette cultivator who would come wake him up when he slept in but he saw no sign of the man. He stood up angrily, his black silk robe sliding off his shoulders. The king rushed over to his desk, throwing all the papers and scrolls to the floor in a fit of rage, he kicked his desk so hard that the wood cracked. He took a deep breath and looked at the mess that had been made.

How ridiculous. I don't need a pathetic human to wake me up in the mornings. I've been doing it on my own all my life. Why should now be any different?

Mobei Jun quickly got dressed before exiting his room and ordering a servant to clean it up.

Mobei Jun couldn't focus all day, he seemed to be in a trance but none of his subordinates dared tell him.

Could Shang Qinghua have run away? Had he betrayed him?

The king couldn't think rationally, his head was filled with such thoughts. Deep down he was afraid, but he would never admit that. He was two minutes away from running to Cang Qiong mountain and forcibly bringing Shang Qinghua back. He was about to stand up from his throne when he suddenly got an idea. If Shang Qinghua ever came back he would be sure to punish him severely. Then he wouldn't dare try to run away ever again. Needless to say, the King had become delusional.
