Mobei Jun stepped into the rift and Shang Qinghua shivered as his skin came into contact with the portal. This entire time the brunette was in a sort of daze. He believed Mobei Jun was a fragment of his drunken imagination. Even if he wasn't, at least he would have died being honest to himself. He felt his back hit something soft. His surroundings felt familiar but were too blurry for him to recognize.

Mobei Jun watched the man beneath him, his eyes  were unfocused, and he was completely unresponsive. His stomach churned at the sight. It felt wrong, he felt like he would be betraying Shang Qinghua if he were to touch him in this state. Mobei Jun felt something he never felt before. Guilt.

He took a deep breath. If he needed to wait to have Shang Qinghua then he would be patient. He would wait a thousand years if it meant he could hear the brunette say he wanted him while sober.

Mobei Jun got up off the mattress but was stopped by Shang Qinghua's small hand grabbing his sleeve.

"My king..."

He whined, sitting up to be able to reach Mobei Jun. His eyes glistened with something the demon couldn't quite put his finger on. His lips were slightly parted, and his back arched invitingly. Mixed feelings filled Mobei Jun's heart. He didn't want to hurt him, he didn't want to scare him away, but he was making it oh so hard to resist.

He had to admit, Shang Qinghua was the first and only person to successfully put him in such an awkward situation. He was the first person whose feelings he cared about. Had it been anyone else he would have simply taken what he wanted and then pay no mind to them ever again. He had been lost in thought and hadn't noticed that the brunette had let go of him. Much to Mobei Jun's horror, the cultivator began stripping. Blood rushed to places the author of this fic can't find any good synonym for as the demon did his best to stop the man from baring himself to him. This was too much for him.

He took off his thick, furry outer robe and wrapped it around Shang Qinghua's bare body.

"Go to sleep."

His tone was cold as he feigned anger to hopefully get the man to stop testing his resolve. He began to walk out of his room, away from his bed, away from a half-naked Shang Qinghua.

Mobei Jun stopped in his tracks again as he heard quiet sobs coming from behind him. He abruptly turned around; concern plastered on his face.

Shang Qinghua was hugging his legs, his hands clutching the large fur coat. It was so big on him that it looked like it was about to swallow him whole. He had his face buried in his knees as the sobs continued.

The demon carefully approached him, reaching out a hand to pet his head. Mobei Jun hoped the man would never get drunk again. Although he found his clingy behavior amusing, he had a hard time keeping up with his mood swings as well as feeling annoyed by the idea of him acting this way in front of others. He was eternally grateful to Luo Binghe who had informed him, in a rather annoyed tone, that Shang Qinghua had been drinking with his lover. Mobei Jun didn't want to think about the state Shang Qinghua would wake up in had someone else found him.

He sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress dipping beneath his weight.

"Why are you crying?"

The brunette's sniffling paused before he slowly lifted his head to look at the figure before him. The two made eye contact, Mobei Jun feeling slightly uneased at the frown that had made its way onto the man's features.

Then he began crying again. Mobei Jun couldn't think of anything to say, he had never been good at comforting. He would never admit to it but the situation at the moment made him panic a little. He began questioning his abilities as a king. There was not a thing in the world he could not do and yet here he was, unable to speak a few words of comfort.
