Simon

When I wake up Jace is still asleep. I get up and look out his window, the sun is just barely shining on the horizon. So I go across the hall to my room and get ready to take a shower. I get all my stuff ready and take a quick shower. I am just getting out and I hear a soft knock at the door.
I ask, "Who is it?"
Jace replies, "Me."
I say, "Come in."
He walks in as I'm walking into the bathroom to get dressed. I ask him what we are going to do before breakfast and he tells me that he's going over to my house. That I have a few things left.
I ask, "What's left, I haven't noticed anything missing."
He tells me, "I can't say. Your mom actually wanted me to bring you to get the few things left. Otherwise she wasn't going to give them to me."
I role my eyes and shake my head. I put on a pair of jeans, a tight, black tank top, a black gear jacket and pull on a pair of my boots. I walk out and he says, "I have something for you... a weapons belt and a steal." As he hands me a black belt with weapon hooks and a steal. He loops the belt through my belt loops. Then sticks the steal in my boot holster. He stands back up and smiles at me and says that now I look like a shadow hunter.
When we get to my house the door is locked, so I pull out my keys and open the door. I find my mom asleep on the couch. I shake her arm and she sits up blinking and looking around when she sees me she jumps up and reaches out to hug me, but I step back away from her.
I say, "The only reason I'm here is to get the few things I have left. I am not hear to make amends with you mom."
I hear someone in the kitchen. I look at my mom and her eyes look empty and sad. When we hear a crash we all jump and run for the kitchen. We come to a stop at the door and look around. My eyes land on Simon sitting on the floor with pans scattered around him and a cabinet above him open and empty.
I walk over to him and help him up.
He hugs me and asks worriedly, "Where have you been me and your mom have been worried to death? Are you hurt? You don't look hurt."
I say, "I'm fine. Don't worry about it. How long have you been here Simon?"
Simon says, "I've been here all night and this weird guy was leaving with a box of your stuff when I got here. I tried to stop him but he just kept on walking to his truck."
I tell him, "That's fine. That 'weird' guy was my boyfriend, and I had him come get my stuff. I hear Jace walk out but even though both my mom and I can both see Jace neither of us look back. Because we both know that Jace is glamoured so that mundanes can't see him. We hear a knock on the door and then Jace comes in.
Simon confronts him saying, "Did you get her pregnant, you, you, died blonde goth wanna be? If she is pregnant I will kill you. If you so much as touched her you will not make it out of this house alive!"
Jace looks like he is about to explode so I scream, "Stop it! Now. Simon, I am not pregnant and you have no clue why I'm moving out. Don't ask because I can't tell you. Jace, do not hurt him and don't cut him in half with a seraph."
Simon says, "Clary, what is a 'seraph'? And until I find out why you are moving out I will be following you until I find out where and why."
Jace says first, "A 'seraph' is also called a 'seraph blade' it is the weapon of choice for most of my family, Clary, and myself. I do not die my hair, and she is moving in with me. Like she said we can't tell you why she is moving."
Simon turns to my mom and says, "Do you know why she is moving out and where exactly to?"
My mom replies, "Yes, I know both but I can't tell you why Simon. I'm sorry."
I turn around and run up the stairs, tears streaming down my face. Now I have to decide between my family in the shadow hunting world and my actual family. I reach my old room and I slam the door shut and slide the bolt home. It would normally be quick work for Jace to use an opening rune, but with Simon here he wouldn't even be able to get his steal out. I am grateful for this, because I don't think I could face him, Simon, and especially my mom right now. Simon surprisingly reaches the door first and starts banging on the door, next Jace gets there, and lastly my mom. I am sitting against the door and I hear Jace telling my mom and Simon to be quiet so he can try and talk to me through the door.
He says, "Clary, open the door. Let me in, please. All I want to do is talk with you."
I reply, "No Jace, I don't want you in here I don't think I could take it. If I let you in both my mom and Simon will come in with you."
Jace says, "Clary, I love you. Please, let me in I won't let them come in with me. I promise you. Please Clary, let me in. Clary that ring you have on do you know what it means? It means that we're engaged you know that, it means I love you. That I will never leave you alone when you are hurt, are hurting, or being hurt. You are hurting now I'm not leaving you. Please, Clary just let me in."
I stand up and open the door. I let him in and when he's in he pushes the door shut and locks it back. I'm sitting on my bed when he walks over to me. By this time I've stopped crying, but Jace can tell. He has always been able to tell when I'm hurting even when I am try to hide it.
He bends down so that I have to look down at him and says, "What's wrong? Did I do something?"
I reply, "No you didn't do anything wrong. It's just that when I started my training I didn't think about the people that I would be hurting and leaving behind. Simon is my best friend Jace. What am I supposed to do? When he says that he will follow us until he finds out where we are going he means it. He's not just joking around, he's being serious."
Jace replies, "I don't know what we're going to do. I mean the only way for Simon to stay in your life would be if he were to ascend, and for that to happen one he has to have a voucher from good standing members of the Clave, two he has to be married or engaged to a shadow hunter. in good standing with the Clave, and three he must be eligible for ascention. Right now he would full fill two of the three requirements for ascention. Though this would allow you to bring him into the Institute and he could start his training for his ascention."
I am so relieved that I can't say anything, but Jace can tell that. He stands up walks over to the door and opens it. I tell Simon if he wants to find out where to and why I'm moving out then he has to wait until we leave and that the he can follow us back.
The few things that are still here are a bracelet, steal, sketch pad, and pictures. We get the few things we need to gather and get in the truck. Simon gets in my mom's car and when it won't start he comes up to our truck and asks, "Can I ride with you guys I got dropped off yesterday, and your mom's car won't start, Clary. Please."
Jace looks at me and he knows what I'm going to say, "Yeah, get in."
I scoot over to the middle so I'm in between them. I think that if Simon was in the middle we wouldn't make it to the Institute alive, at least Simon wouldn't get there alive.
As we are on our way there Simon leans over and whispers in my ear, "You have a good choice in boyfriends, Clary. Where did you find this one? A weapons shop?"
As soon as he says this I know Jace heard it. Jace replies, "She does have a good choice in fiances, and she actually found me at a club."
"Stop it. Right now, or you will both be riding in the back of the truck.", I say.
We ride the rest of the way to the Institute in silence, but every once in awhile I catch one of them looking at me or glaring at the other.
Once we arrive at the Institute Simon is acting like we are crazy. Saying, "What?! This is where you are moving to, an old, dilapidated church? Clary, you are not moving in here."
"Calm down mundane. This is not an old, dilapidated church, it is the Institute. It is a lot bigger than it looks, about fourteen stories tall with its own garden inside, a ballroom, and a dining hall that I'm sure is bigger than your house.", Jace told him.
Simon shakes his head and follows us up to the gates. I tell him to hold my boxes. He takes them and I open the gates, when I open the gates he nearly drops my stuff and says, "Amazing!" Jace and I laugh and walk through the gates. He follows staring upward at the Institute. We come to the elevator and step in, Simon not saying a word.
We get up to the main floor and step out. We head up to my room and set my stuff down and head down to breakfast. The only thing weird is that the whole time Simon hasn't said anything since he came in the gates. We get to the dining hall and Alec, Isabelle, Max, and Marisa are all already there. When we walk in Marisa stands up sharply, a grim look on her face.
"Who is this and please don't tell me he is a mundane unless he has the sight or something?", Marisa asks.
"He is a mundane but we are willing to vouch for him for ascention. We had to tell him other wise he would have followed us until he figured it out anyways.", Jace steps in and says.
Marisa sits down, puts her head in her hands, and shakes her head. She doesn't say anything just motions for us to sit down. Simon sits to the left of Isabelle and takes my regular spot. Jace sitting at his usual seat stares at Simon and then looks back at me. I just shake my head at him and go sit by Max on the other side of the table. Max smiles at Jace and then says, "I guess your fiance doesn't want to sit with you anymore. She prefers finer people now. You can give his family ring back to him and where mine now, Clary."
I laugh and tell him, "The only reason I'm not sitting with Jace is because someone stole my seat, Max."
Simon looks up and inquires, "Did I take your seat, Clary? Sorry here, I'll move."
"Thanks Simon.", I reply.
I move around to where I normally sit, and like usual Jace takes my hand. When Robert brings breakfast out he looks at Simon curiously. Marisa shakes her head at him and whispers to him that she will explain later.
After we finish eating Isabelle volunteers to show Simon around, and then drags him off already starting to tell him about the Institute. I shake my head laughing and Jace asks, "Ready to start training? Alec offered to train with us but if you don't want him to come with us he said he's fine with that too. Well?"
"I'm ready to start training, but I don't know if bringing Alec along is a good idea. He might distract us." I say eyebrows raised.
Jace smiles and shakes his head. I head up to change into my gear while Jace tells Alec that we don't need his help today. I get up to my room and change into my gear. When I come out I hear Jace in his room. I go and knock on the door.
"Come in.", He says.
I walk in to Jace's room and go sit on the bed. He comes out of the bathroom shirtless. He walks over to where I'm sitting, reaches for me and pulls me to my feet. He kisses me and hugs me. Then he sits down on the bed and reaches behind him to pull on his shirt. After he pulls his shirt on he pulls me down to where I'm sitting in his lap.
He says while kissing my hair, "I. Love. You."
I lean in to him and say, "I love you back."
"I know,", He says, "So are we ever going to go start training, or are we going to just stay here in my room until we have to go eat?"
"We are going to go train. Though the other idea sounds tempting, too. Let's go before one of us changes our minds."
We get up and head to the training room. When we get there Simon and Isabelle are in there, and Isabelle is telling him about the training room and all the stuff that we do in here.
"... We use the training room to work on our balance, knife throwing, aim, climbing ropes, running through the rafters, etc. that kind of stuff. Once your ready you will start training in here getting ready for your ascention. So what do you want to see next?" She explains.
"Hey Izzy, what are you doing?" Jace asks, surprising them both.
"Oh. Hey Jace, hey Clary. I was just showing Simon the training room. What about y'all?" Isabelle asks.
I tell her, "We are in here to start training for the day. Want to join us? Though if Simon is going to train with us he will need some training gear."
"No, I don't think we will join you today. We still have a lot of the Institute to cover. I started at the garden and then came down here because I figured it would take you about an hour to get down here. Since you both went upstairs at the same time, and when we were coming down here from the gardens we heard you both talking in Jace's room."
"We were talking, that's it. Nothing else was going on." Jace says in reply.
"Well. When I was looking for you yesterday before dinner and I found Clary in your room saying she had just woke up. I just figured..." She teases us.
Jace points to the door and both Simon and Isabelle leave. Before Jace can turn around I am already in the rafters. He looks around and then looks up, laughs, and comes up the rope to stand next to me. Since today we are doing hand-to-hand combat. I take a step back and shake my finger at him. Telling him that we need to train other wise I might have to get a new tutor. He laughs then shrugs his shoulders. He launches himself at me and I jump to the next rafter, grab a robe that's behind me and stand there smiling. He jumps for me again and this time instead of jumping for another rafter I fall hanging tight to the rope.
He notices my smile then the rope. I am about half way down the rope when I stop falling, though I still have about thirty feet to drop. I let go and when I do Jace looks like he might jump after me I hit the ground on my feet and run to the wall of training blades. I grab a dagger as Jace is climbing down. When he hits the floor he hits it running. I jump to the side before he can catch me. I make it half way across the room before Jace can get a dagger off the wall. He starts coming to me and I move towards a corner of the room were there is a rope hanging down to the ground. I think he's so focused on me that he doesn't notice the rope behind me again.
He gets about and arms length away from me and I grab the rope wrap it around his wrist and nail him in the stomach. He doubles over and I spin around behind him and before he can recover I jab him in the back with my elbow, and he falls to the ground.
I laugh saying, "OK. Enough training for today I don't know how much more pain and stress you can take."
"You're right I think that if you scare me like you did jumping off the rafters again my hair will start turning white. Let's go back to the kitchen and get something to eat. If your hungry. If not then you can go head up and change and I'll be up in a few minutes." Jace replies.
I tell him, "OK. I'll come with you I want to get a drink. Plus if we pass Alec I want to be the one to tell him you just got beat by your fiance."
He shakes his head as he walks out the door. I laugh and follow him to the kitchen where he hands me a bottle of Gatorade. Alec walks in behind us and asks Jace, "What happened to you? You look like someone just beet the crap out of you."
Jace points to me and grabs him a Gatorade. as well. I shake my head and tell Alec, "I happened to him, and I did just beet the crap out of him. We were training and first I jumped down from the rafters holding on to the rope and I scared him half to death. Then I let go of the rope about thirty feet above the floor landed on my feet ran and grabbed a training dagger and ran to a rope in the corner, and grabbed hold of it. When Jace got over to me he thought he had me pinned in the corner, but this time I took the rope wrapped it around his wrist making him drop his dagger that he had gotten off the wall. I then nailed him in the gut with a right hook. Spun around so that his back was to me and proceeded to jab him in the back with my elbow making him collapse to the ground."
"Wow, Jace really? It sounds like she whipped your butt." Alec exclaims.
Jace shakes his head smiling and walks out of the room. I go to follow him and Alec tells me, "Good job, Clary." I follow Jace up to our rooms.
