she arrived just the same as everyone else. scared, confused, and lacking fifteen years of memories. the only difference, however, was the fact that she was a girl.
nevertheless, florence made her mark. she learned pretty early on that every moment mattered, especially if she was trying to convince a group of boys that she, too, could be trusted. and helpful.
two years later, flo has proven to be just that. with her secured job as the keeper of the medjacks ( and the self-assumed role as the big sister of the glade ), things should've started to look up. too bad that good things don't last forever.
after the death of their late leader, nick, and ben's mysterious day-stinging, florence was beginning to lose hope until one mysterious boy ( and his comatose counterpart ) arrived, flipping her beliefs upside down, sideways, and three-sixty degrees all with one scrap of paper.
"she's the last one. ever. "
and so, along with the rest of the glade, it was time for flo to explore deeper within the maze. what else awaits them? awaits her?

the girl furrowed her eyebrows. was that a trick question?
"what will you do?" her aunt's tight voice caused the younger girl to blink herself back to reality.
"uh," florence stammered, swallowing a thick wad of spit that seemed to have collected in her mouth due to the nerves. "become a glader?" she sounded about as confident as she felt.
the scientist only nodded, giving her niece one last look, the tiniest bit of sympathy flooding her eyes before she blinked it away as if it were never there. "what will you remember?"
a chill broke out across the fifteen year old's arms. "nothing."
