The godly wheel says Dabi so, Dabi today.
--------
You found yourself pacing your wooden floors, aimlessly nipping at your bleeding cuticles. The metallic taste did nothing to calm your nerves.
You hated feeling out of control. You hated how much he controlled.
You hated how you let him do it continuously.
"If it meant he was safe", you'd reason to yourself, smelling his charred skin as you laid next to each other.
"If it meant he'd open up to you", you'd excuse as he throws your china plates to your head and berates you for even thinking you mattered.
Yet, whenever he called, voice choked up from crying, something in you would stir.
"Are you alright?"
"I don't know what to do, Y/N." He chuckles. "It's too much." He'd pause.
"I need you."
Then the cycle repeats. It was as if he could code your every reaction, what made you tick, what made you "you". He knew you loved it when he'd rest his tired head on your chest, leaning into your gentle touch and kissing your fingertips.
He knew you needed him to need you.
He always knew.
Your pacing stops as you look up at your hanging mirror in the hallway.
You couldn't recognize yourself anymore. A shell of a person who did everything they could do for anyone. Your hands gripped your forearms as if to keep you sane.
You were disgusted, revolted at the sight before you. Was that you? A more pathetic version of yourself? Your upper lip curls as you match into the kitchen.
You slam your hands on the marble counters as your eyes sting. You wipe them using your arm.
No more tears, you thought. Not over him. Not over the way he made you feel for three whole years.
But, what about the good times?
You blink, remembering how it was the first year.
How he'd dote on you, swept you off your feet in dark alleyways. Calling his favorite place to lie his head down. The way the corner of his eyes would crinkle whenever he laughed.
That Dabi was in there somewhere. Somewhere deep and far away. On good days, you'd see someone just like him behind those cyan eyes.
But, it die out into a natural blue.
Replacing him with an imposter. Using his face and voice to lure you in.
All because you thought you could find him again. Find his comforting warmth behind those blue flames.
But, you don't want to keep searching anymore. You can't find him. He was gone.
He's been gone for two years now.
A knock breaks you out of your thoughts. A knock that would've made your heart flutter, but only caused brief fear to strike your heart.
Life was a series of crossroads, some more defining than others.
This was yours.
Answer and keep looking for the "good" in him.
Or leave it close and begin a new chapter.
You look down into your hands, hearing the knock repeatedly.
There was no going back once youve made your decision, you think. Only your consequences.
And the consequences you shall live with.
