Chapter seven

Third pov
The knock was heard on the door. "Don't open it" Everett said "Why?" "You don't know who's out there. I'm pretty sure the werewolf wouldn't bother knocking before he comes to rip us apart." Alice said "This is Officer Trent Miller with the LAPD. I need to ask a few follow-up questions. " the man said "what is this motherfucker doing here" Cyrus asked angrily remembering what he has done to Harlan. Alice put her finger towards her lips motioning to be quiet.  "I know you're in there. I could see you through the windows. Just here to talk." the man said "You don't have to talk to him." Blake said looking at the twins " He knows we're here." " It doesn't matter. If you tell the cops they can't come in, they legally can't. "  Blake explained
"You can't come in. " Alice looked at the door "That's fine by me. Let's talk out here. Five minutes, guys. That's all I need." "Go into the office down the hall. I don't want this guy to know you're here."  Alice said quietly "What are you gonna do?" Cyrus looked at the girl " I'm thinking. I and Harlan will talk to him. Go!" " We're all on the same side here. We're all just trying to figure out... Who started the fire. We'll never bother you again. Promise." the teens left the room and Alice opened the door and the pair went outside closing the door behind them. The officer pushed Harlan up against a wall "hey" Alice exclaimed "Did you set the fire?"  "I told you. I don't know anything." officer Miller tried to push the boy harder but Alice pushed him away. She stood in front of Harlan " I think you are overstepping your rights officer" the girl exasperated.  "we aren't talking to you without a lawyer and if you don't have an arrest warrant leave" Mccall girl said. Suddenly the creature appeared out of nowhere and dragged the cop to the woods. Alice and Harlan ran into the house. "The cop. It took the fսcking cop." Harlan was panicking "What?" Cyrus looked at him "It's outside. It's right outside the house." Alice said  "Dad. Dad, did you hear that?" " Harlan!" the voice was cut off. "Fuck what are we gonna do" Harlan exclaimed Everett and Blake came into the room "what's going on" "the werewolf is outside" Cyrus answered Alice then remembered that she had a little jar of mountain ash when she came here. She ran upstairs and brought it "Cyrus only you can do it. This is mountain ash no supernatural can cross past it. It's not enough to make a circle around the whole house but it's enough for this room. All you need is to make a perfect circle around this room and it won't be able to harm us" Alice finished and gave a jar to Cyrus. The boy nodded and got down to business. When the circle was done Alice breathed out.  "Is this thing going to protect us" Blake was sceptical. Alice put her hand in the air near the ashes and the blue barrier appeared "wow" Harlan said stunned. Everyone breathed out. When suddenly a phone buzzed.  Cyrus took it and showed the others, the number was hidden. "Don't answer it" Harlan looked at his mate. The boy just nodded. In a few minutes, the phone buzzing was heard again now it was Luna's then Everett's then Harlan's and in the end, it was Alice's "for fucks sake" the girl answered the phone, and put it on speaker. "Don't leave the house." the voice said " Who are you?" " You're almost safe. The moon is past its peak." " Are you watching us?" Blake asked " Is it still trying to kill us? " "Don't leave the house." the call ended. Gunshots were heard. The teens jumped in fear and Garrett Briggs entered the house and broke the circle of mountain ash. "I think the werewolf left" he said and put the gun on the table. He started to talk to the twins. Alice took the gun and looked at the bullets "Silver bullets, really" everyone turned to her "well it did work" the man said "it doesn't work on me but who I'm to know this world's rules" the girl put the gun down 
"You made these?" Harlan looked angrily at his father " Yes." " To kill werewolves?" " Yes."  " To kill us?"  the man paused " Yes." the boy was furious but anyone could see the hurt in the twins' eyes.

"Less than 20% contained. Do you know what that means? Everything that can burn is on fire. So if you know anything, you need to tell me right now." Kristin Ramsay said to the kid " Austin, tell her." the mother said "Tell her why you can't sleep, why you can't even close your eyes. " the woman put her hand on the boys shoulder "Austin, do you know something about who set the fire?" Kristin asked  "It's not that." the boy said quietly " This isn't about the fire?" " Tell her." "I saw something." the boy looked up "Okay. What did you see?" " On the highway." "You saw someone on the highway?"  "Not someone?" the boy looked mortified Whatever he saw, it killed people, and now the poor boy can't get it out of his head. "You people need to find this thing." Austin said " Find what thing? Austin." " There's something... " the boy stopped himself "Just tell her what you told me." his mother looked at him "She's not gonna believe me." " Actually, I think I know what you're talking about. It was big, right?" " Yeah." "Dark fur, black?" "Yeah." " About 7 feet tall?" " Yeah." " Yes. Fangs and claws?" " Was it an animal, kind of like one of those?" Kristin pointed towards a blackboard with a lot of pictures of the wolf-kind monster. "Austin, I don't want you to think those pictures are hanging there as some kind of joke like we're mocking the witnesses. I have them there to remind me how powerful and confusing a traumatic event like this can be." the woman finished. "I have no doubt that a 280-pound ram charging right at you is completely terrifying." " It wasn't a ram," Austin said irritably " But it wasn't a 7-foot monster with fangs and claws either, right?" " Then what killed Connor?" the woman continued making the boy more agitated "We're still looking for Connor. What makes you think someone killed him?" " Not someone." the boy fumed "Austin, do you know where he is?" " No. Maybe you should ask the fսcking ram." with that Austin left the room.

"He's been out there too long."Luna said " It's been less than ten minutes." Everett pointed it out. "He's got the gun." Harlan said " I'm going out." Luna snapped when the man came in " Couldn't find anything out there. Are you sure about the cop?" " Yeah, one second the guy's standing there, slamming my head into the wall, and the next he's gone." the boy said "Gone meaning dead." Alice stated "Let's not jump to conclusions. Whatever happened to him, we're gonna find out."  "None of you here have seen anything like that before, like, ever?" Everett asked  "I told you, this is all new to us too."Luna answered "well I have" Alice murmured quietly to herself but her mates heard her and looked at her  " So we're safe? It's not gonna kill us?" Blake breathed out "Not if we're part of its pack. It's protecting us." Luna assumed " From what, a shitty cop?" " How do we know it's not still coming after us?" " We don't. So we're gonna have to figure some things out, how to keep you safe, how to protect ourselves." Garrett said. "Well we do know that silver works on him but, silver bullets aren't practical" Alice chimed "yeah  Metal is not as dense as lead, which affects the accuracy." Garret added " You made it yourself?" Harlan looked at his father "I made about 50 of them. Bought the silver bullion online, learned how to cast the bullets." " We're never really gonna use them, right?" Luna murmured " No. Well, possibly. You have to remember, when I found the two of you, you were both cubs." " Wait, they were what?" Everett looked confused  "Wolf cubs. That's how I found them. I brought them home thinking I would drop them off at a wolf sanctuary and that would be it. So how'd they get like that? To be honest, I don't know how it happened." Garrett explained  "So you made silver bullets just in case we turned back into wolves?" " I had no fսcking idea what you were gonna turn into. I didn't know who or what you were, and I was alone." the man stopped for a second and then continued "Did I eventually find out the truth, that the two of you are every bit as human as me and anyone else? Yeah, of course." " But you kept the bullets. And the gun... loaded. " Harlan spat out  "Now you know why."  "Our real father." the twins looked down " I'm sorry, this is probably not even something you guys are even thinking about right now but are we gonna turn into that, that thing that's your real father? "That's not our father." " Then what is it?" "It's a killer." Cyrus breathed out saying what everyone had on their mind.  "Well we do know that silver works on him there is also another thing that's affects werewolves" Alice said "what is that" Garrett asked looking at the girl. Mccall looked at him debating whether trust him or not but the monster was more dangerous so she told them "aconite also known as" Garrett cut her off "wolfsbane" "that and mountain ash," Blake said "what's that" Garrett questioned "the thing you broke when you came" Blake pointed towards a broken circle "apparently no supernatural can cross it" she explained. "I'm taking you home. Tomorrow you're going to school, just like everyone else." Garrett said "you too Alice" "but I don't study there" "I will contact the principal you need to blend in so there are no unnecessary questions" the girl nodded "I can't do it. I can't go back to school tomorrow." Everett said "If they're reopening the schools, you need to be there. You have to act like everything's normal, all  of you." Harlan scoffs "Normal, for real?" " And no more answering calls from numbers you don't recognize. " Garrett added. "Then why is he helping us?" " I'm not so sure he is." Luna took a marker and went up to Blake "I know you don't have a phone, but if you're near one and you need something, call me." "Permanent marker?" Blake looked at the girl  "I thought you'd probably try and wash it off." "I'm still going out." "I know." everyone left.  there were only twins and Alice in the house. Alice went to the bathroom. The girl looked in the mirror. She missed her mom her twin, Stiles, Lydia, and the others. For the days that she was here she tried to not think about them gaslighting herself that everything was alright and that she will go back soon, but as time went she couldn't deny it she was getting scared of losing everyone, and never going home the only thing that calmed her and kept her sane were her mates. Alice breathed out and a single tear dropped from her eyes. suddenly she heard a static noise. "What the fuck" Alice exclaimed when she saw a dark figure in a metal gas mask in the mirror right behind her. The figure was dressed in an old suit kinda from world war the second. The girl blinked and the figure disappeared.
