The following weekend, your friends convince you to go to yet another house party. This time, hosted by a friend of Bokuto and Akaashi's.

At first, you disagree. Then, Kenji dangles a small bag of coke in front of your face.

"Don't feel like it," you sigh as you brush the plastic bag out of your face.

"Like what? Going to the party with us or the coke?" he smirks, tilting his head to the side slightly.

"You're not going to let up are you?" you groan as you lean against the side of your bed and cross your arms.

"Come on, you've been in such a slump lately."

"Are you peer pressuring me into doing drugs? Such a bad role model," you laugh, shaking your head.

"Fine, forget the drugs. More for me anyway. But will you please come with us? Maybe you'll meet someone to get your mind off of him..." he hums teasingly.

"At a party where he's almost guaranteed to be?" you grumble.

"Maybe he'll see you all up on someone else and get jealous," he grins.

"Oh please. We're not living in a novella, Kenj. But you can stop with the bargaining. I'll go," you finally answer with the response he's looking for.

After about an hour and a half of pregaming with your friends, you catch a ride over to the house party.

For awhile you enjoy the party, laughing and talking with your friends until Kenji whips out the small ziplock bag again.

"Don't hog it all," Phoebe gleams, her eyes wide with excitement.

Kenji chuckles as he finds a spot on a couch nearby. He then pats the seat next to him, to which Phoebe happily obliges.

"Wanna sit?" she then asks as she scoots closer to Kenji. "I promise we'll share, unlike some people I know."

You chuckle at her comment, knowing you've spent a lot of time hiding your coke from the two of them before. However, this time instead of joining them, you come up with an alternative answer.

"Uh, I think I'm going to use the bathroom first actually. And maybe get a drink instead, too..." you shrug.

"Okay, be safe," she replies as Kenji opens the small bag. "Call me at the first sign of trouble."

"I will," you wave before walking off into the crowded room.

In the next room over, the kitchen, you swipe the first unopened drink you can find and take a large sip. Then, leaning across the countertop, you peer out into the less crowded deck outside. But of course, with your luck, you spot him. Bokuto. Of all people. Leaning against the railing straight ahead with Aimi wrapped around his arm.

He doesn't notice you. And neither does she. Too busy involved in their own conversation to even think about who's watching them from the other side of the window.

And then he makes her laugh from whatever he said. But you can't hear a single thing. Your stomach starts to churn while you watch them before you finally tear your eyes away.

You make your way over to the bathroom where, just as you're about to wrap your fingers around the handle, it opens from the other side. You take a step back and watch as a familiar man appears right smack in front of you.

Of course it just has to be Kuroo, you think to yourself.

"Are we going to make a habit out of meeting at the bathroom," he smiles softly, thinking back to the time he had spilled your drink all over you and dragged you into the bathroom the night of the Star Wars themed party.

"Technically we never met at the-"

"Oh, you're getting technical with me now?" he chuckles softly.

You sigh as you lean up against the wall behind you.

"Are you alright?" he then asks, quickly picking up on your silence rather than a witty comeback he's so used to.

"I don't think you're going to want to hear about it," you tell him as you watch him lean beside you.

"Probably not," he agrees. "But you can tell me anyway. Looks like you need to vent. It's Bokuto, right?"

"Yeah, it's him," you nod. "I thought the two of us had something starting, but now he's all over that other girl and I don't even know what to think anymore."

"I guess that happens more often than we're told when we're young," Kuroo comments with a sigh.

You gaze over at him, meeting the tired look in his eyes. "I'm really sorry, Kuroo. I was such a bitch the way I handled everything with you. I should've been straight up since the beginning."

"You were," he shakes his head, looking down at his feet instead. "It was me who acted like an idiot thinking you'd change your mind. But you've always liked him, haven't you."

"I have," you nod.

"Then before it's too late, Y/N, talk to him. Be straight with him. Like how you said you wish you were with me." As he talks, he leans up from the wall and looks at you directly, showing you his sincerity.

"You really think so?" you reply nervously.

"I do," he hums. "Just promise me you won't pussy out, okay?"

"Yeah, well, I guess the second time will be the charm," you grin softly.

"Seriously," he rolls his eyes playfully. "What happened?"

"Well we ended up just-"

"Nevermind," he interrupts. "I don't think I want to know."

"Okay, that's fair," you agree. "How are you doing by the way?"

"I'm gettin' by. I saw your friends before. Thought you'd be with 'em," he changes the topic.

"Still on the couch?" you ask.

"I'm proud of you for saying no," he smiles. "How'd your friends take it?"

"Pretty well, I guess," you shrug. "They didn't really say much. More for them anyway."

"That's one way to look at it," he laughs as he pats your shoulder. "Hey, you want a ride home? This place fuckin' blows."

"Uh, Kuroo, I don't think that's such a good idea..."

"I'll drop you off back at your place. You don't have to come to mine," he adds.

"Alright, I guess it can't hurt then," you agree as you finish the rest of your drink and stop it into the bathroom garbage. "Ready to go?"

"After you."
