"Boo!" he laughs, pulling you out of your head. It's him. Finally.
"You actually came," you hug him in a shitty attempt to hide your smile. "I didn't think you'd really be here."
"Well you said you would be," he grins. "So here I am. You came with Kuroo?"
"Uh, yeah, he should be here somewhere... I was just with him a second ago," you reply as you look around for your 'date'.
"That's okay, you don't need to get him. Hey, do you want to go outside? It's hot as hell in here," he then asks.
"Yeah," you nod, reaching for his hand to lead him out of the jam-packed room and toward Kenji's backyard where there is still a lot of people, but you can breathe a bit better.
"Wanna sit?" he asks, pointing to the iron bench along the side of the backyard.
When you nod, Bokuto leads you over this time. "I guess the whole partying thing is not your scene anymore?" you chuckle.
"It is, but I haven't been to one in awhile I'm a bit shell-shocked," he smiles. "How're you doing?"
"Uh, I'm a bit drunk but I didn't do any coke if that's what you're implying," you smile cheesily at him.
"Can I tell you something?" he then says.
"Of course."
"I've been here for a while. I saw you with Kuroo. I don't know why I asked you that before, honestly. I'm sorry. I should've said something sooner I just didn't know if I should," he shakes his head.
"Why not? Just 'cause you didn't come here with us doesn't mean that you're not-"
"It's not that, Y/N," he interrupts. "I heard how Kuroo was introducing you. I thought maybe the two of you would want to be alone together. I didn't know he was your boyfriend. You should've told-"
"What?! No, he's not," you shake your head. You can feel your face heat up as you figure out the right words to say to Bokuto without him getting the wrong idea about you and Kuroo. "It's not like that. I think he was just joking or something because he's really not my boyfriend, Bo."
"I don't think it was a joke, Y/N," he explains to you. "He was saying it to a bunch of people. And you didn't... you didn't correct him."
"Well what was I supposed to say?" you scoff. "I think I'd know if Kuroo was my goddamn boyfriend."
"I'm not saying that he is, Y/N, but I don't think it was a joke. Kuroo likes you. Maybe it's not serious to you, but for him I think it is," he replies, looking at the drink in his hands.
"Well what do you want me to say to that?" you shake your head. "I can't control Kuroo's emotions!"
Bokuto says nothing before lifting the bottle in his lap up to his lips and taking a long sip. "You're missing the point," he sighs as he places the empty bottle on the ground. "Kuroo likes you. If you don't like him, then you should tell him that before you string my friend along for too long. I'm goin' home. See you around, Y/N."
Bokuto then stands up, leaving you just as quickly as he came. You watch him leave with a dry, open mouth. What the hell are you supposed to say to that? Stringing his friend along? What about you, hm?
"Asshole," you groan as you stand up and start to walk back into the house. "He really came here just to be a fucking dick to my face and leave."
"Y/N!" a voice then calls out to you from the far side of the backyard. You look across, squinting your eyes, until you see Kenma sitting along the edge of Kenji's drained pool with a few other people you vaguely recognize.
You wave at him, not expecting him to return the gesture and signal for you to come over. But when he does, and you see the blunt in his hand, a smile grows on your lips.
"Hey," you grin as you approach his group and sit down beside him on the edge of the pool, hanging your legs over the side.
"Do you want a hit?" the girl sitting on the other side of him asks.
"God, yes," you grin. "Thank you."
"What's going on with Bokuto?" Kenma then asks curiously as the girl hands you the blunt. "He left in a rush. I saw him acting weird before, too. Is his grandpa okay?"
"Pretty sure," you nod as you hold the blunt to your lips and breathe in, "he's okay," you finish, blowing out the smoke.
"And Bo?" he then continues.
"Yeah, he's being a little weird but I don't really know why. Guess he feels weird being at a college party," you lie to him as you hand the girl back her blunt. "Thanks for that."
"No problem," she smiles kindly.
"Okay then..." Kenma nods a bit suspiciously. "And how're things going with Kuroo? Are you going to kick me out of my dorm again tonight?"
"I don't know," you shake your head.
"I think he thinks it's going well," Kenma tells you honestly.
"I know he does," you sigh, "but I think he and I need to talk. I was kinda thrown off with how he introduced me to people tonight..."
"You mean because he said you were his girl?" he chuckles to himself.
"Hey, it's not funny!" you roll your eyes. "I have no idea why he said that shit!"
"Don't overthink it. He was drunk before we showed up at your dorm before. I'm pretty sure he was just saying anything by the time we got here," he rolls his eyes just before realizing something and immediately snapping himself back to reality. "Shit, where is Kuroo?"
"I don't know. Was I supposed to be his babysitter?" you reply, shaking your head.
"Get up. You're officially co-babysitter," he groans as he stands up. "Let's go find him. He's probably puking in a bathroom somewhere."
