You had woken up to a cool breeze hitting your dry feeling face.
You slowly opened your eyes, feeling like the weight of the world was resting on them. You went to stretched your limbs, thinking they would ache like crazy. But they weren't too bad.
Yes everything hurt, but all the bullet holes and cuts didn't sting like you thought. Just ached a little along with your joints.
You slowly sat up, amazed at Ronals work. When you looked out the front of the hut, you saw Neteyam.
He sat on the edge of the walk way, leaning against a post which held up a cover, one leg swinging down in the water and the other sat on the side walk. He was looking right at you. And when he saw you had sat up, he rushed up, almost falling in the water.
But he wasn't the first in. Tuk was first.
"Y/n...your awake" she said as loud as she was happy.
"Shh tuk. She has only just woken up" Neteyam said running in and grabbing his sister's shoulder.
The young girl rolled her eyes and groaned. "Fine." She whined to her eldest sibling. She turned to you and smiled once again. Speaking much quieter. "I'll come back in a bit"
The boy watched his sister skip away to some friends she was able to make before turning back to you.
"How are you?" He asked. He was full of worry but tried hard to cover it in his voice.
"How long was I out?" You asked, completely dismissing the question. Neteyam seemed a little annoyed at this but answered anyway.
"4 days" he quietly mumbled. Not quite sure how you would react. You had sat up straighter, swinging your aching legs from your hammock.
"What?" You asked. How had you been out that long.
"Ronal made sure you were out as long as possible. She said the more rest the better." Neteyam said walking closer to you. Trying to keep you from exiting the hammock. But you jumped down anyway.
Your knees almost bucked when your feet hit the ground, but Neteyam grabbed your waist and held you up.
"Easy Moon...easy" he said slowly and quietly. He guided you to the edge of the pathway once he realised you weren't getting back to bed.
You looked out to the view of the reef and it's people. They all seemed so peaceful and happy.
You let out a sigh and turned to Neteyam.
"Thank you for not giving up on me" you croaked. He turned to you a little confused. He hadn't said one thing to you about not giving up. So how did you know? "The connection, Neteyam...I can feel it" you added as though the boy was dumb.
"So...what happens now?" The boy asked after a good few minutes of comfortable silence.
You thought about Neteyams question. What was going to happen? But he didn't just mean with where you were and what had happened to you.
He ment with him and you. What was life going to be like for the 2 of you? And you wondered that just as much as him.

Two weeks had passed.
It didn't take too long for you to regain your strength. Ronals medicine had worked, and every day you saw her to take a small drink of thick green slog.
It was what helped you get the strength back but it tasted like it should do the opposite.
The Sully parents had warmed to you a little after their eldest son hadn't left your side once. Sleeping at an angle so he could still see you. Spending every morning and night with you.
