You had fallen asleep not long before the sun appeared. And so had Neteyam apparently.

But you woke up to the sound of talking.

"Ao'nung, leave them" Tsireya said. You heard a slight slapping noise. She had hit him. "It's cute."

"Oh." Lo'ak whined. "but I want to see the embarrassed look Neteyam gets"

"skxqwng" someone replied. You kept your eyes shut, wanting to hear what the group was going to say.

You could feel the wind was cooler. A turn in the weather had started.

"Lo'ak, shut up" you felt the rumble of  Neteyams chest when he spoke. It was quite so as not to wake you. The teens had woke him too. "I am not embarrassed and I don't know why I would be" he whispered. You could feel his body move slightly. He was trying to stretch out his limbs.

"Well we have to head back soon so some one will have to wake her." Ao'nung said. His voice getting quiter as he spoke. He had walked over to the water. "The clouds will reach us in about 15. And we don't want to get caught in the rain"

After a few quiet chatters you felt a tap on you waist where Neteyam held you.

"Hey, sleepy head...time to wake up" you dug your head into his shoulder, pretending to act as though he woke you. You stretches you legs and let out a sigh.

"Dont call me sleepy head ever again" you mumbled. You smiled to yourself as he let out a chuckle to your very real threat. He wasn't scared of you one bit.

You didn't know why you were smiling considering it wasn't a good thing he wasn't taking your threats seriously.

You sat up and slapped his leg quite harshly. He shot up rubbing his stinging skin.

"I'm serious" you said quietly trying not to smile at the shocked boy. He nodded quite quickly. You stood up and looked to the sky to see the grey clouds hiding the sun. You rubbed your arms before finding Kxetse laying down in the sand quietly. He blended in.

Ao'nung decided he would right back on his ilu, Rotxo giving him company. Tsireya rode with Lo'ak while you Neteyam and Kiri rode separately.

You got back to the camp just as the rain started to come down, all running across the beach trying to get under cover. You didn't understand why it was such a big deal being in the rain considering the reef people spent a lot of time in the water.

You however didn't. You walked. You thought. How could you have gotten so soft. You needed to distance yourself. Try to get the strength back. The tough feeling you used to have. The anger.

You knew deep down that it was a good thing you were laughing and smiling and enjoying your time. And you knew you weren't weak. But you needed to feel it in your heart as well as your head.

You needed to know that if you were left with the sky people, that you would be ok and you wouldn't start to panic.

Neteyam's Pov:

The rain didn't stop for days. But that didn't stop Y/n from getting a ride on her Ikran. No one saw her leave or come back. But we knew she was out there.

Just a little over a week past when I caught her walking towards the forest where the ikran stayed.

I called out her name as I ran out of the shelter of my hut and over to her. Her Moon colour hair flipped around as she did. All her strands were stuck together from the rain.

She looked over to me with a questioning look.

"You going out riding?" I asked pointing to the forest. She gave me a quick nod. No smile.
