The following day
Ahh... the shift feels endless tonight, I thought as I served customers at the bar.
I couldn't help it, but that night with Evan was still replaying in my head. I bit my lip while I imagined him naked. His perfect butt and...Oh my, I'm at work, I gotta stop.
I let some steam off and mixed a couple of drinks for customers. Then I checked the time because I really had that feeling that this shift never ends.
It was 22:46. I rubbed my left eye as I was standing, leaning my back against a wall, bored as hell. Although I tried not to look like it.
I looked around the whole club, which was very dimly lit, in a combination of white and purple light.
As I rested my eyes at the exit, I froze at the thing I saw. I recognized a very familiar figure. And guess what. Of course, it was Evan. My heart skipped a beat.
I immediately took an 180 degree turn and faced the bottles. I grabbed my forehead in panic and embarassment. What is he doing here??! I look like shit tonight I don't want him to see me like that!
I was panicking inside. My breathing got quick. Okay, its alright, why are you panicking? It's not like you can run away from here anyway.
"Miss, may I?" I heard a voice from behind. I almost forgot I have customers here. Urgh, this goddamn man!
I turned around and there he was, standing right in front of the bar. I looked at him with my mouth open for a brief moment.
Wide smile spilled across his face, showing his adorable dimples. I smiled back at him, trying to put my confident bad bitch facade back on.
"Hello?" the customer who called me a moment ago demanded my attention again. I almost forgot about him.
I turned my gaze to him and immediately began to pay attention to him.
"Sorry. What can I get you...?"When the customer was satisfied, I took a sip of my drink, which I had placed behind the bar. I was having a little mojito that I mixed earlier, just to loose up a little.
"Hi there." Evan spoke when he finally had the chance.
With a straw resting on my lips, I swallowed the sweet lime liquid and said, "Hey."
"I'd like a bottle of champagne, please." he asked politely. I was confused, I thought he was on his own there.
" A whole bottle?" I asked to make sure I heard him right.
He nodded," Yeah." he responded simply.
"Alright." I nodded my head aswell and smiled confusedly. I don't know why, but it felt so awkward. I didn't know how to act.
So I prepared the champagne and placed it in front of him, cause he settled at the bar.
" Can I get a second glass, please?" he looked me straight in my eyes with a hint of a smile still on his face. Well now I was confused.
" Sure?" I got him a second glass. He might be here with someone after all. I didn't want to admit it, but even the thought of him with someone else was making me jealous.
As he poured the champagne into both of the glasses, I had deja-vu. Then he handed me one. So he really was alone here?
" Oh no, I can't drink in work..." I shook my head in refusal with a pity in my eyes.
" Oh, so that drink you're sippin is not alcoholic?" he smirked, looking behind the bar and turning his gaze to my mojito.
"Uhm..." I held my forehead again as I frantically searched for the right words to say, "Actually, it is." I gave in and laughed. Evan started laughing too. The pleasant sound warmed my heart, he was so perfect.
I started looking around the bar to make sure no one's watching us. There was only one couple at the bar that looked like they were deep in a conversation and a man in the corner looking at his phone. It looked safe.
I guess I'm going to indulge a little today. So I took the glass full of champagne from him and thanked him.
"So..." he started, "everything good with your boss?"
" Yeah... He payed me the hours worked. Thanks to you. " I smiled genuinely.
" I'm glad. You deserve it. I-"
" Evan? What are you doing here?" out of nowhere this man with blonde hair interrupted Evan. I immediately put the glass with champagne down and smirked awkwardly. I hope he didn't see me.
Evan winced in startle and turned his head to the left where the man was standing. He examined the man and he looked so lost, like a little puppy. He clearly didn't know who the man was.
" Oh, hi Josh! I'm just out here for a drink or two, you know," he finally remembered the man," and what are you doing here?" he asked in return with a little irritated smile.
"Same as you." the man named Josh, as I learned, responded. " How's Emma?" he asked again.
"Uhm," Evan raised his eyebrows, causing wrinkles to form on his forehead," She's out of town, visiting her grandma." he nervously chuckled. Emma? Who is Emma?
(note:I know Evan's single now, but Emma is his girlfriend in this story for the plot)
"Oh that's great. Say hi to her when she's back. Okay, I gotta go now, have fun." Josh patted Evan on the shoulder as Evan said goodbye to him. Then he turned around and fixed his gaze back on me.
I made sure I looked uninterested in his conversation, but in reality I was dying to know who's Emma. Even though deep down I probably knew who she was.
Evan took a sip of his champagne. "You like it?" he asked me with a significantly nervous smile. I guess he didn't want me to know about this Emma girl, that's why he got so stressed.
I decided to not ask him about anything and rather be quiet and unbothered. So I picked up the glass again and sipped on the champagne.
"Yeah." I nodded my head.
" What are you doing tonight?" he asked me bluntly, with a certain urgency in his voice. Oh man, so many questions.
" My shift ends at one. And then I was gonna go home and sleep." I smirked. When looked at me with his sexy dark brown eyes it made me feel incredibly vulnerable. He owns the darkest eyes I've ever seen. And also the sexiest.
" Well, I was thinking... when you're done, if you'd like to go somewhere to eat..." he asked me out carefully. I loved his shyness. He wasn't drunk yet and I guessed that's why his behavior is quite different from the last night we spent together.
Oh god... I knew where this was going. And I didn't know if I was more happy or afraid.
