Chp. 31: i chose this job for the pills

"So you're telling me... Kuroo became a successful businessman??"
Oikawa raised a brow in suspicion. No way the guy who slacked off all the way through high school became a rich world reknown CEO.

"Exactly. He and Kenma live together in a penthouse in central Tokyo. They'll be attending the wedding as well. I'm pretty sure Kozume will let out a few tears."

"He'll also let out his claws"
Oikawa deadpanned as he shuddered even thinking about it.
Sugawara giggled as he poured more tea into Oikawa's mug.

"Yeah, besides them, Shirabu and Semi broke up. They became too toxic. Semi was more controlling but Shirabu's stubbornness didn't want to leave him at first. I mean after 3 years of dating I'd find it hard as well to just leave the one I love."
Oikawa's eyes widened at Sugawara's words.

"What do You mean by controlling?"

"After you abruptly left, the friend group went into shackles. First off, Akaashi went bezerk and lashed out at Bokuto and said some pretty rude things. He let his anger issues get the best of him, hurting his boyfriend in the process. And since Atsumu wasn't there as well and had already left for Norway, everything was even harder. Me, Kenma, Akaashi and Shirabu really tried but we grew apart as time continued ticking. I still have a lot of contact with Kenma and sometimes with Shirabu as well but ever since Akaashi and Bokuto split up, he has shut himself off I haven't heard of him for years."

Oikawa had a hard time taking in all the information. Akaashi and Bokuto broke up? Because of him?

"I know what you're thinking right now Kawa and it wasn't your fault. It was Akaashi's. He destroyed something beautiful and he had to carry the consequences of that. Bokuto is still good friends with Kuroo, Daichi and Sakusa and Osamu so no worries about him. I actually see him most of the time when Daichi's group comes over to drink and watch volleyball games on tv."

Oikawa nodded, looking and glaring harshly at his tea cup tightly clutched in his hands. He was itching to ask Sugawara. What about him?...

Sugawara could see the hesitance and anger on Oikawa's face as he thought about him.
Sugawara sighed and put his hands over Oikawa's, making the latter calm down.

"Do you want to know about him?"
Oikawa took a deep breath and nodded, already prepared to hear the harsh truth.

"So..."

Five years ago ———————-
The day after graduation
Iwaizumi's pov:

"WHY ISNT HE PICKING UP?"
Iwaizumi walked in Osamu's living room in a panick. There was no sign of Oikawa ever since last night. He was nowhere to be found and he hadn't been responding to any calls or messages.

"Calm down Iwa, I'm sure he's with Makki or something."
Osamu, who had just said goodbye to his twin last night, couldn't stand Iwaizumi's nagging and shouting this early in the morning.

"Hé isn't Osamu! I already called him!"
Suna then came into the living room, carrying his spoon in his left hand and his bowl filled with cereal in the other.

"That's strange, I'm pretty sure I saw him walking into the bathroom last time I saw him."

Realization dawned upon Iwaizumi as he started panicking internally.

"w-What?? Around what time?"

"I'm pretty sure it was around like 11 pm."

"Fuck."
