Brianna looked out at the open water. It had been so long since they had been here. It looked more peaceful than it did in winter. With the birds chirping and the clear blue water. She and her friends had changed and went straight down to that water.
"Hey look guys" said Emmy "the shed is unlocked. Is that normal?" The shed was usually locked on their trips up in the winter. It was a little bit suspiciously though. Sage walked towards the shed.
"It's safe guys" she called back "it's just canoes and other lake stuff"
"Did you guys know all this was here?" Said Ashlynn turning to look at Jay and Brianna.
"Wellll...we knew about the shed but we didn't know what was in it" Brianna admited
"We never bothered finding out because when we were kids we were scared of the shed" Jay says "I guess we just never thought about it much"
"Well it doesn't matter now" said Emmy "their canoes! Just think about how much fun we can have with CANOES!" Emmy is an interesting person Brianna decided. Sure they had been hanging out since the 4th grade and she should know this but......it had been a while. During those long months of homeschool and therapy all Brianna wanted was to be normal like everyone else. But something stopped her. The wind picked up and her Black hair blew into her face and she heard splashing.
"Come one guys!" Emmy shouted from her Canoe "we came here to get in the water did we not?!"
"Oh Emmy" Ashlynn said while putting her hand over her face "you are too much sometimes." Emmy pulled her brown hair back and pulled something out of the bottom of her canoe.
"Oh no" Matthew said running is hands through his blue streaked black hair "what have we done, the Canoes have created a monster!" Brianna laughed. It felt good to laugh. She was glad that in the moment Emmy had a sense of humor.
"I guess it's a good thing that we have a whole squirt gun arsenal at our disposal" said Sage while bursting tears of laughter.
"Why do I have a feeling that this is going to be complete and utter chaos" Ashlynn sighed
"For once I'm in complete agreement with Ash" said Charles
" well I can think of only one way to settle this" says Martin holding up is own squirt gun and grabbing a canoe. " I declare war on Canoe Emmy!" Ashlynn was right in a way. A war of squirt guns and canoes are often chaotic. But this was on a whole other level. It was all fun and games. Until Jay went under and didn't come back up.
"Guys?" Brianna said hearing the panic in her voice. "Jay hasn't come back up yet" Sage started panicking. But Brianna stopped her
"I'm going down there" she said " you can come with me if you want but I have to go down there" Sage paddled over next to her.
"I'm coming with you" she said
And together they dove under the water
