Bucky's Girl

Chapter eight

Bucky had been checking out a building he had been informed that Walker could possibly be staying at. Only by the time he got there, the place was empty. Whoever had been staying there, was not there now.

As he walked back down the stairs of the apartment buildings, he felt his phone vibrating. He pulled it out, finding it was Evie calling him.

He smiled, as he hit the answer button.

"Hey babydoll. I'm working on a mission right now. I cant really talk at the moment" He said, having noticed something on one of the other floors.

"Bucky, I'm in trouble" She said, sounding frightened.

He was on high alert instantly.

"Where are you?"

He could hear that she was outside.

"highway two-seventy-eight" She said, looking around at the four men coming towards her.

Bucky listened as there was a commotion on the other end of the phone, he could hear someone grabbing Evie, as she muttered something, and the sound of the phone being removed from her.

"EVIE?" Bucky called out.

"Hello James Barnes"

Bucky stood up straight, feeling his anger reaching peak level at the sound of John Walkers voice.

"Let her go Walker!" Bucky growled.

Walker chuckled.

"I thought I told you back in Romania, not to get in my way. But you didnt listen, did you?"

"I swear to God Walker, if you hurt her. I will kill you" Bucky threatened.

"I guess you better come do that then, hadn't you" Walker said.

There was another commotion on the line. Leaving Bucky feeling like he was rendered useless.

"BUCKY!" Evie screamed.

BANG.

Then screaming.

At the sound of gunshots, Bucky quickly ran down the remaining flights of stairs, and outside to where he had left his motorbike, getting onto it, not even seeing the traffic and driving erratically through it, until he was on the highway, in search of Evie.

Evie watched Walker standing in front of her, sneering as he taunted Bucky. She was confused on how they knew each other. And when he mentioned talking to him in Romania, it made everything worse. She was feeling angry and wanted to kill him herself.

"I guess you better come do that then, hadnt you" Walker said.

He looked at the other three guys standing around Evie, nodding once, they all removed there weapons from their holsters.

2BUCKY!" Evie yelled, she knew he couldn't help her, but she wanted him to know that she was thinking about him, before the end.

A surge of fear and panic took over her body, she felt her body pulsing, and the power rushing through her. It was like it took over, the fire left her hands in one shot, going straight to them, setting them all on fire. One of them shot a round off, as she shouted for him, before they were writhing on the ground, moments later, they were dead.

Walker stood there, grinning from ear to ear.

Finding out what her power had been.

As he pulled out something from his jacket, aimed it at Evie and fired it.

She didnt even have time to react.

Evie was out cold on the ground, beside the dead men.

Bucky arrived shortly after, having driven through the streets of New York, ignoring the blasts of horns that followed, and shouting to follow. He found the car on its roof, smoke pouring out the front grill. There was nothing but a few men, dead inside the car, like they didnt stand a chance, to whatever had hit the front.

He looked over to the grass area, following the skid marks that was on the road, leading off to the side. He saw Evies bike there, and the three dead, charcoaled, men lying on the grass.

Bucky hurried over, finding nobody had survived, and wondered how they got like this.

But there was no sign of John Walker, or Evie.

He pulled out his cell phone.

"Friday, I need you to do me a favour, and track Evie, if possible" He said.

"Pulling up her location on where she has been today for you Mr Barnes" Friday said.

His phone buzzed in his hand, causing him to check. Where he noticed instantly, she had been over at the compound.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I have a camera photo that confirms she was there too. And Im checking the surrounding area to which you are in, that may have her in any vehicle, as hers seems to be where you are"

"Its crashed Friday. She must be in another He looked back at the car that was on its roof. Friday, can you check highway two-seventy-eight, for any SUVs that may have followed her, stopping at this location I am at now"

"Sure" She replied.

Seconds later, he checked his phone again.

"Seems there was two following her. The second one didnt join the first until she was almost at your location. I have located this vehicle to, this other location"

Another photo popped up on his phone, showing him the building he had been in earlier.

"Can you alert the rest of team that Evie has been abducted please" He ended the call, and headed back over to bike.

He didn't care if he arrived there earlier than the others, he wanted to save his girl.
