Bucky's Girl

Chapter ten

Evie watched from where she was, the conversation between them. Not quite hearing everything that was being said, but from Bucky's stance, she knew he was protecting her, wanting her out of there and safe.

They heard the jet fly right over the top of them.

She let out a sigh, knowing that backup was on the way, and they wouldn't stand a chance, since it was just the two of them. Against the Avengers.

Sharon had heard it too, calling out to Walker, that they should get going.

Clearly she didn't want to be caught being there.

But he ignored her.

Before she knew it, Walker and Bucky were throwing punches. He had thrown his gun to the side, between the trees at the edge of the lake. Then started fighting with him. She wanted to yell at him, tell him to stop being a child and just come and help him.

The sound of branches snapping caused them to glance over at the cabin.

Sharon quickly reached for her gun.

Evie glanced straight over at her, seeing that she was aiming at her. Bucky must have seen this too, because he pulled out a gun from the back of his jeans, and shot her. It was a hit on the first shot, but he turned to hit Walker, who quickly knocked the gun from his hand, sending it over into the bushes, quite far.

Moments later, she saw the whole team coming from both sides of the building, looking at Bucky and Walker fighting now at the edge of the lake. Steve rushed over to where Sharons body was lying. She could see he was upset by this, shocked and confused on what had happened.

Walker kicked Bucky in the chest, then said something to him as he pulled something out from his pocket. Evie didnt know what it was, but she saw him push something in his hand, grinning as he done it.

The items around her started beeping, and flashing more.

She quickly looked up at Bucky.

"BUCKY!" She screamed out.

Seeing all of there faces quickly look around at her.

That was the last thing she saw.

Bucky stood there, seeing something make small explosions around her. At first, he thought whatever Walker had done, hadnt worked. But then he heard the unmistakable sound of her shouting out to him, and the crack of the ice.

He watched as she was there one moment, and gone the next.

Evie had gone through the ice.

"EVIE!" He called out to her.

Walker laughed.

This infuriated him more, hurrying over to him and punching him so hard, he fell to the ground. Steve quickly went over as well, having brought with him, handcuffs that would keep him restrained.

Bucky stepped forward to get himself in there and find her, knowing how cold the water would be.

When there was a flash of red.

Pushing everyone backwards, knocking them to the ground. Bucky tried to see through the red flash, but it was so bright, he had to cover his eyes.

As quick as it happened, it was gone again.

Bucky got to his feet, and was about to dive in.

"What's going on? What are you all.." The person who had spoken looked and saw Walker sat on the ground, with his hand cuffed behind his back. "You son of a bitch"

Bucky starred at the person rushing towards Walker, realising this was Evies brother.

Bobby.

"Bobby?"

Bobby had just grabbed John by the front of his clothes, lifting him up from the ground and slowly freezing the front of his shirt. He looked around at Bucky.

"Yeah, who are you?"

"Bucky Barnes. We dont have time to explain whats going on, we have to save Evie, she is in the water" He turned again to go in.

Bucky was about to dive into the water.

Steve was shocked, having seen Bobby quickly drop Walker back to the ground, then run at speed into the water, like he couldnt feel it. Leaving Bucky to stand there, staring at it.

Nobody could speak.

Holding their breath for a sign of Bobby bringing out his sister from the water.

But after ten minutes of seeing neither of them. Slowly they began losing hope.

Bobby checked the water, over and over again, before giving up, and slowly walking back out to the shore, trying to ignore the look of disappointment on everyones faces.

"Where is she?" Bucky forced himself to ask.

"She's not there" Bobby said, his clothes soaked, but he wasn't shaking from the cold.

"What do you mean shes not there? Bobby, we all watched her go in. He rigged it, so she would fall in"

"I checked. Many times. Everywhere. Im telling you. I cant find her"

"Then, what the hell happened?" Bucky whispered, looking around at them all.

But nobody could answer him.
