Chapter fourteen

Tony opened his eyes, hearing the beeping from his desk. It meant that Friday was trying to get in contact with him over something important.

"Friday, talk to me" He said, sitting up and turning on the lamp.

"You wanted me to inform you about that anomaly that came up. Well. We had another surge. This one was much bigger" She said.

"Send it to my phone" He replied, reaching for it, as it buzzed.

On the screen was the same location. And a much darker red.

"What does this mean Friday? That this person has gotten stronger?"

"It looks that way boss" She answered.

"Wake up the team, we need to check this out, in case its another Hydra base" Tony grabbed the bedsheet and pulled it back.

By the time he slipped into his usual clothes and headed downstairs, the team was already standing around the room. He found that Bruce and Natasha werent with them, neither was Thor.

They must have been working on other missions.

"Is everyone up to speed on this?" Tony asked.

"Yeah" Steve answered. "Are we going up there, to check it out?"

"I think we have too. We dont want this person getting out there and destroying everything. Especially if this has got something to do with Hydra again"

"And what if it is?" Sam wondered.

"We take control of the situation" Tony explained. "Jets ready"

The jet got closer to the location, which wasnt far from the city. Westchester was just on the outside of New York. As they flew over the place, they looked down, finding it was a large mansion, with a burning helicopter sitting in one of the tennis courts.

"What is this place?" Steve wondered, looking out the window.

Tony however, knew what it was.

"Barton, land on the other side of the building, there" He said.

"Are you sure?"

Tony nodded.

The wheels touched down, as the backdoor opened. They all slowly walked out, unsure what to expect.

"Mr Stark" A voice said from the side of the building.

They all looked around, Tony quickly putting his helmet down, seeing him sitting in the wheelchair. Bucky and Steve quickly got defensive.

"Its alright" Tony quickly explained, walking over and shaking his hand.

After making quick introductions of themselves, Charles looked over at the helicopter.

"What happened?" Clint asked.

Steve had gone over to the helicopter, looking at a few of the bodies that was lying on the ground.

"Dead."

We were ambushed. I had to go out of town for a meeting. We were arranging to bring in a new student. Aurora and Jean had come with me. When I felt something was wrong. By the time I got back. I found the place like this, and some of the students and staff missing. From what I can see, they work for a private contractor"

"Its not Hydra" Steve answered, walking over, as they all headed towards the doors to go inside.

"No. We dont know who it was, and what they want. But they took enhanced children, which I doubt is a good thing" Charles replied.
