NAZREEN’S POV

Life is a mystery roller coaster, where it randomly takes you from a wonderful destination full of wonder, joy and happiness and then it moves you to a place that’s so full of heartbreak, pain, anguish and sadness. And the saddest part is that it abandons you in that awful place for a really long time that the only choice you’re left with is to make the best out of it even though there’s no hope for you to ever leave that place. But then after a long time the same roller coaster picks you up and takes you to an even better place than that you had once had and longed for.

Meeting my son and the feelings that he invoked in me is similar to the life’s mysterious roller coaster, where right now it has taken to me to a better place than that I had been at before Anwar and Fahad’s betrayal.

“Mom” Ayaan’s voice calls out to me, coming from my room “mom, are you in your office?”, he asks making me turn around and face the corridor since my door is open “yes, Ayaan am in here” I answer him. Not too soon he comes in, still wearing his pajamas.

“Are you writing your book mom?” he asks, making his way around the table and comes to stand on my left side with his eyes fixed on the screen of my laptop. I hum as a response with my eyes fixed on him. Trying to see his reaction on the words that I’ve written down on the screen.

“WOW!!!!!.... MOM, this is pretty good” he exclaims happily making me smile at his innocence, I pray to the almighty that may he never lose his innocence, may he protect him from all kinds of evils that this world has. “thank you love” I answer him, he shifts his eyes from the laptop and to my face then he gifts me his megawatt smile with all he’s pearly whites showing then he bends and kisses me on my cheek.

“Now, my cheeky little monkey, go brush your teeth and pray Sub-hi, while I prepare breakfast for you, what would you like to eat?” I get up from the chair that I was sitting then stretch myself while I wait for him to answer me. “anything you cook mom, I’ll eat since you’re such a good cook” he answers me as he makes his way out of my office and straight to the bathroom, he doesn’t know how much his complements mean to me.

******************************************************************

I make my way to the door, but Ayaan beats me to it since am slow and today my leg is hurting so it’s a lot difficult to walk in a normal pace with my Cain. “Mom, please sit down on the couch, I’ll get the door and anything else you need” he says as he goes to unlock the door, only to reveal Anwar, making my heart beat to increase and a cold sweat to break on my neck and forehead, my body starts to shake but I try to control the tremors as I don’t want Ayaan to notice, since he’s such an observant child.

It’s been a month since I first met Ayaan and he’s been staying with me since then, and during the entire time when Anwar comes, Aziz has always been here, so it was easy for me to avoid him and also Aziz gave me a sense of safety. But I guess today’s not the case.

“Dad” Ayaan calls while he goes in for a hug, anyone can clearly see how much the father and son duo love each other so much. “how’ve you been?” Anwar asks Ayaan when their done hugging. Ayaan only answers him with a smile and a thumps up, indicating that he’s been good, making Anwar laugh while messing Ayaan’s hair.

While staying with Ayaan, I have come learn that he’s a quiet kid, he only speaks when it’s necessary, he’s also an observing and understanding child but at the same time he’s so brilliant and smart.

Watching them interact with each other makes me feel like an interloper, hence, I make an effort to get up from where I was sitting quietly, trying not to attract Anwar’s attention to me. To be honest am so afraid of him that at any moment he is going to become the man that destroyed me.

However, my escape plan fails as my foot hits the coffee table when I tried to get up causing the father and son duo to turn their attention to me, causing Ayaan to quickly move from his father’s side and straight to mine, “mom, I told to sit down and rest, I know your leg is paining today” he chides me as if am the kid and he’s the parent. He grabs my left hand and position me back to sit back down on the couch but he’s not strong enough to hold my weight and it when another set of warm and muscular hands encloses themselves on my weight. My body automatically tenses and my heartbeat increases and not soon enough I start to lose air, my lungs suddenly feel empty and as I fight those hands from my body.

Struggling against Anwar’s large hands proved to be futile, soon enough he sits beside me and pulls me into his lap with his vice like grip on both of my hands, I can hear him whisper sweet nothings into my ear but then darkness clouds my eyes, and not soon enough do I succumb to it.

ANWAR’S POV.
“Her, vitals are going down to a dangerous level, if she continues to have these kind of panic attack, then no matter what kind of medication that given to her, will not work. And these kind of cases are generally, because the patients have suffered some intense traumatic events. And the constant triggering renders them to have this kind of a panic attack” the doctor professionally, states without knowing that the man standing before him, is breaking more and more, little by little as each word that the said doctor is saying is like his heart is being squeezed. Unconsciously he moves his hand and rubs the place where his heart is, as if trying to elevate the pain.

Anwar, knows that he’s the sole reason of Nazreen’s current state, he had seen her trying to get up from the couch silently and he further acknowledges she wasn’t moving out of the sitting room simply to give him and their son privacy, rather, she was afraid of him. And that’s why his single touch rendered her to have a panic attack.

Knowing the fact that his woman terrified of him is one thing but accepting it is something else altogether.

The doctor leaves the room with Ayaan on his tail, leaving behind Anwar whose eyes are fixated on the woman sleeping on her bed peaceful, his eyes moves all over her body and face, but something on her right cheek peeks out from the hijab she’s wearing.

Frowning he moves from the left side of the bed where he was standing and straight to the right side, he bends down and removes the piece of cloth covering her cheek only for him to be met with an angry reddish-whitish scar, that moves from the beginning of her right temple side all the way to her neck, all that looks to be over a decade old. Anwar, moves his hands to run over the scar as tears silently cascade down his face, deep down he knows he’s the reason for it.

Doubt starts crowding his mind, as he doesn’t know if he’ll ever be able to gain his Nazreen’s forgiveness. He wants her to torment him as much as Nazreen wants. He needs her to give him as much pain as possible.

Two small hands encircle themselves around him and the owner’s face lies on his back, he turns around and pull Ayaan to him in a tight hug and outs his face on top of Ayaan head, the father and son duo cry both looking at the woman who means the world to them

“I will make sure that, I bring you back to life, I'll make sure that your life will be filled with love and happiness again and I'll make sure to bring back to you all that you've lost because of me and my evil deeds  and I promise to give you the live that you deserve with me or without me, now it's not only me that needs you, our son needs you more than me and I'll fight for both of us” Anwar vows as he looks at the peaceful sleeping woman before him.....
