The island stopped moving and everyone got up, waiting for Katniss to resurface. Peeta ran to her first, as Johanna rubbed her back. Finnick looked around in a panic, "Where's Emory?" He asked. Everyone looked around.
"There wasn't a cannon," Evan realized, and he ran to the side of the water. Finnick dove in and swam around, trying to find her.
Time couldn't move slower for Emory as she stopped fighting against the current and just let herself move with it. Eventually, everything stopped moving and she used her little strength to swim her way to the surface.
Everyone heard a huge gasp for breath and ran to the side. Evan pulled her out of the water as she was still gasping. Finnick got out and ran to her side. He hugged her tightly, rubbing her shoulder, "oh, you're okay, you're okay, you're okay."
"Let's just get what we need and get off the bloody island," Johanna told them. They got the few things they needed and headed back to the beach.
"So besides Brutus and Enobaria, who's left?" Katniss questioned as they dried on in the sand, hiding under some trees to cover them from the beating sun.
"Maybe Chaff. Just those three," Peeta answered, scratching his face.
"They know they're outnumbered. I doubt they'll attack again," Finnick said as he leaned against a tree. "We're safe here on the beach."
"So what do we do? We hunt 'em down?" Johanna asked, it seemed ridiculous, but honestly, they could.
A girl's screams were heard in the distance, "Katniss, help me!"
Katniss freaked, "Prim! Prim! Prim!"
"Katniss! Katniss, wait!" Finnick yelled, being the first one to run after her. Emory grabbed her sword and ran after him.
"Annie! Annie! Annie! Annie!" Emory heard him yell.
"FINNICK!" She yelled running faster until she was stopped by a force field. "Finnick! It's okay, It's not her. Annie's fine. It's not real! I promise. We're right here, I'm here!" They stayed like that on the forest floor until the hour was up. Emory got up and headed to Finnick with Johanna.
"Are you okay?" Johanna asked Finnick quietly who nodded.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine."
Emory grabbed Finnick's face, "Hey, Annie's alright. She's fine, they're not hurting her, I promise. They're too worried about us and the games to focus on anyone else, alright?" He nodded slowly and they both got up.
"Okay? They won't touch Prim. All right?" Peeta promised Katniss and Johanna agreed.
"Your fiancé's right. The whole country loves your sister. If they tortured her or did anything to her, forget the districts, there would be riots in the damn Capitol," she gave an angry smirk. The same couldn't be said for her family. No one cared or even knew when they died, just one day, they were gone.
She turned to the sky and started yelling, "Hey, how does that sound, Snow? What if we... What if we set your backyard on fire? You know, you can't put everybody in here." Everyone except Emory looked at her like she was crazy. "What? They can't hurt me. There's no one left that I love." Finnick gave her a look and she sighed. "I'll get you some water."
Finnick was the first one to walk back to the beach and sat in the water. Emory sat down next to him and took his head, placing it on her shoulder as they stared at the sky.
"Finnick! Emory!" Johanna called and they walked back to the group and sat in the sand.
"I have a plan," Beetee announced. "Where do the Careers feel safest? The jungle?"
