Emory was once again brought into the dressing room to get ready for her interview with Caesar, the day before the games started.
Demetri dressed her in another gold dress. It was perfectly patterned to resemble the Capitol. Finnick joined her in the dressing room. "Ready for the interview?" She asked him.
He shook his head, "I'm gonna have to lie. Tell them that I'm single, make myself appealing to them." She smiled at him sympathetically. He had such a big heart. It was hard for him to leave for clients after they got married. He hated going alone and would often turn down offer, even if they increased their offer, if Emory couldn't come with him. He wanted to be faithful to the only girl he could actually love like that.
"Well, no matter what, you will always be appealing to me," she promised him, bringing him in for a kiss. "You're mine, mine and only mine, no one can take that from us."
"Emory, darling–" Demetri stopped, seeing the two of them making out. "Well hello Finnick Odair. No, but really, you both have to go, interviews are starting." He ushered both of them out of the dressing room and into line. Demetri fixed her makeup and Finn's makeup person fixed his.
Evan shook his head, "Really? Right before the interview? If you had time, you would probably do it in the arena."
Emory scoffed, "No– well–" Evan pushed her forward as District 1 went on stage together. You knew it was bad if District 1 was trying to stop the games. They were actively trying, saying that they weren't going by choice and that they would miss them.
The line kept moving forward and Finnick headed on stage with his usual proud smile. Caesar went ahead with his interview, "Finnick... I understand that you have a message for somebody out there. A special somebody." Finnick chuckled. "Can we hear it?"
He nodded and looked at the camera seductively, "My love, you have my heart for all eternity and if... If I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips." All the girls in the audience melted. Since he didn't say a name, it could've been for any of his clients– in reality, it was for his wife.
"Next we have the victor of the 66th Hunger Games, EMPORIA FALKUM!" The doors opened, revealing Emory in her beautiful outfit that her team had put together. She strode out elegantlly, showing why she was one of the favorites of the Capitol. She was like a princess. She picked up the ends of her dress as she walked and had a large smile on her face.
"Well, Caesar, it's been a while since I've sat with you," she laughed as he patted her leg.
"Yes, it has, 9 years, my you've changed," he gestured to her. "You look stunning."
"Oh, thank you, but look at you, you haven't aged a day," Emory complimented him, and he laughed.
"Oh, you have such a way with words," he barked out and she and the audience laughed. "I have to ask you though, is there anyone special waiting for you at home?"
He raised an eyebrow, waiting for her answer, she sighed before smiling to herself, "yes," she nodded, and the crowd went crazy. Hers 'gimmick' was never lust, Finnick's was, Her's was love, family. "He's my everything. We met after my games, and I've never dreamt of anyone else since. We got married two years ago," Emory smiled at him, and Caesar and the crowd awed.
"How come we never knew?"
She cringed a little, "Well, the thing is, he's from another District," she pretended to whisper, and he gasped.
"How scandalous."
"I know, I know," Emory nodded. "I–" she started to fake cry, "I never wanted to come back in, we— we were trying to start a family."
