Alpha Paul's home was not what I expected. I'm not sure what I was expecting, something bigger... more extravagant? For an Alpha with such a big presence and reputation, he seemed to live a simple life. The cabin was beautiful. It was tucked away in the woods on the side of the mountain, over looking the pack lands.
Lexi gave me a quick tour of the quaint home before taking me upstairs to what I assumed was a guest suite.
"The bathroom is just through that door. You should find everything you need in there. " she said. "When you are done, feel free to look through the closet and help yourself to anything in there that you feel comfortable wearing."
"Ok, thanks" I said. Still not sure of what exactly was going on. I mean one minute I'm a prisoner and the next I am being treated to dinner.
After a long and very uncomfortable moment of silence she smiled and said, "Dinner is at seven on the dot. I'll be back to get you." Then she left.
"Thank the moon... I thought she'd never leave!" Joe said.
"Joe? You're back?"
"Yea. I don't know what they zapped us with, but I feel like I've been asleep for months" she quipped. "Where are we and what did I miss?
I decided to take a long bath while I filled Joe in on everything.
She agreed that things just weren't adding up on either end. If Jackson and Izzie wanted to run away together, what was the point in bringing me with them? Why not just leave together and leave me out of it? But what would Alpha Paul have to gain from lying to me?
I was so happy to have Joe back with me. It was nice to not be all alone. She really was my other half.
We decided to keep our mind and ears open through the dinner and figure out exactly what the truth was, and how to escape this place. I wasn't sure where I would go when I left here, but I knew that staying here wasn't an option.
After a long bath and I dried my hair and helped myself to the numerous lotions and salves that adorned the counter in the bathroom. I took my time smelling them all, finally deciding on one that smelled like peppermint and vanilla.
I made my way into the huge closet that was linked to the bathroom. I wasn't sure why Alpha Paul had so many women's clothes and shoes, but I wasn't complaining either. Back home I had hand me downs, so as much as I hate to admit, I felt like a little girl playing dress up.
Joe and I had very different taste. I was enthralled by all of the beautiful dresses and Joe preferred the pants and shirts. She said we should dress for escape and not for a party. I knew she was right, and I should pick something more practical incase I had chance to escape, but the temptation of wearing a beautiful dress was too much. After much back and forth I decided on a beautiful navy blue dress with shoulder width straps. It clung tightly to my chest and stomach, widening at the waist with flowy material that reached my ankles. I desperately wanted to wear a pair of heels, but Joe insisted that I wear the flats, so I compromised. I had never worn a dress and I felt beautiful.
It was incredibly ironic that the first time I ever got to dress up and feel pretty was when I was being held prisoner in a foreign pack by an Alpha that was known to be a real ass. If this was going to be my last meal, then at least I was going to go out looking good.
The excitement of dressing up vanished the moment I heard someone knock on the door. My extra senses had came back when Joe did, so I knew that it was Lexi. Anxiety and dread filled my body as I opened the door. I was honestly terrified of Alpha Paul, and while I found Lexi to be strangely comforting, I knew that she wasn't my friend.
"You look beautiful, Grey" Lexi said in her soft tone with a mega watt smile plastered on her face.
"Thank you." I said, not making eye contact with her.
"Grey, I know that you have been through a lot lately, and its probably very hard to trust anyone, but I think after tonight you'll learn that we are not the enemy. You're safe here." she said as we walked towards the steps leading down to the dining room.
"I seriously doubt that" Joe said as she rolled her eyes.
"I guess we are about to find out."
Question of the Day!
Do we want a chapter from Jackson's POV or do we want to wait and see it all unfold from Grey's POV?
