As I sat in the dingy dark room, I contemplated what I had been told, I felt a warm shimmer run through my body. I somehow knew that it was Joe. She was waking up. I could feel her, but the connection was weak.
My mind was reeling from what he had said. There was no way Jackson and Izzie had been carrying on together. I would've known. Right? I mean, what would be the point t of convincing me to come if the whole point was so they could be together?
The Alpha's story felt like a lie, but a small part of me was scared that he was telling me the truth. In a matter of hours, my whole happy existence had been turned upside down. I needed to get out of here and find Jackson. I needed a plan to escape.
After what felt like hours, I heard the door at the top of the stairs unlock and open. A petite figure walked down the stairs. I stood up, steadying myself for whatever was going to happen.
I watched as a beautiful woman made her way down the stairs. I had seen beautiful women before, but whoever this was, she was extraordinarily beautiful.
Her long dark hair hung elegantly down her back. She was dressed in a long cream colored dress that looked like it was made in layers to fit her body perfectly. She looked regal.
"Hi, Grey. My name is Lexi. I've come to take you to get ready for dinner." she said with a soothing tone.
"I'm not going anywhere with you. " I said. I was hoping she couldn't sense the fear I was hiding under my brash tone.
With a small smile, she pulled a key out of the pocket of her dress and walked towards the door.
"You don't have to be afraid, darling. I won't hurt you. My only job is to help you clean up and dress for dinner. I have no ulterior motive."
"And what about the Alpha? What is his motive?" I asked as I backed up into the corner of my cell.
"I can't speak on the motives of the Alpha. I can say that I have never known him to be malicious ." She replied.
She continued unlocking the door as if I hadn't spoken, and stepped in and walked right up to me.
It was then that I saw her eyes. Her eyes were the deepest shade of purple I had ever seen with specks of gold that sparkled. I couldn't help but ask,
"What are you?"
With a small laugh, she replied, "I'm a witch by birth, but a wolf by choice."
"You're a hybrid? I didn't even know that was possible. "
"Darling, there are a lot of things that I fear you don't know. That's why you're here ."
Something about her made me feel at ease. Her voice was soothing, and her energy was strong yet gentle. Even though I knew I should be skeptical, I wanted to instantrust her.
