Chapter Five ✯¸.•'*¨'*•✿✿•*'¨*'•.¸✯
The awkwardness immediately settled as soon as Pope hoped out the car.
"How's it been going, you know, with Pope and all?" JJ spoke up. His intention was to break the tension but as soon as he opened his mouth, it thicken. Kie sat in the back with him, already regretting her decision to let Avery drive.
"It's good" She frowned, offering him a lopsided smile. Avery could feel eyes on her, silently begging for help. The blonde shifted in her seat and caught Kie's gaze, cluelessly staring back at her.
"It's good? All right," He gave them hope that he was about to end the conversation there but disappointed them when he couldn't help but continue talking. "In the bedroom, is he, like, kinda freaky, cause it's Pope, you know?"
"Why are you asking?" Kie asked. She had no idea where he was going with the conversation and wished he would stop.
Avery cringed, scrunching up her nose, "oh, I don't need that in my head"
"I don't know. Just kinda curious. Just spitballing here" JJ shrugged, pouting his lips.
Kie's face melted into a disgusted expression, making Avery giggle quietly. She frowned, "you don't need to spitball. We could sit in silence"
"Ranking wise–" JJ broke the silence once again. Avery rolled her eyes and leaned forward, fiddling with the buttons. She managed to pick up a couple channels, although most of them sounded more like static than music.
"Oh, you're still asking?" Kie raised her eyebrows, so close to telling him to shut up.
"Yeah, I was just curious" He continued to wave his hands around, gesturing a imaginary scale.
"Curiosity killed the cat" Avery butted in, finally finding a station that wasn't rubbish. She turned the volume up but it wasn't enough to drown out the sound of his voice.
"Is- is John B better or?" JJ blurted out, immediately regretting his words at the look on Kie's face.
Thankfully Pope reappeared, swinging the car door open and scooting into the passenger's seat. "Okay. Phase one is complete. Everything– are we all good?"
"Never better" Avery sarcastically smiled, turning the engine on.

"Hello," Kie deeply spoke into the phone. Avery had to cover her mouth before a laugh erupted from her. The Batman voice wasn't a good choice. "I can't"
